Wow. In the 20 plus years of my life, this has never happened to me before. It's so weird not being able to do something I've been doing every day for as long as I can remember.

Yeah, I had to play a role once where the character went mute in the middle of the show, and to stay in character I didn't talk offstage. It's amazing how hard it is to communicate.

Look in the fridge things normally turn up there when i lose stuff

do you mean like your throat is so sore and hoarse that it hurts to talk, or do you literally mean you've completely lost the ability to talk?

or maybe he means metaphorically. He lost that which makes him an individual. His own distinct way of expressing himself. Or maybe his ability to express himself in ways he'd like to.

It doesn't really hurt, but when I try to talk it sound incredibly hoarse and soft.

Gargle 4-5 times a day with some warm sea salt water and just try to avoid talking for the next few days. Some warm tea with a little honey can help as well.

I've had that before as well... it really sucks when you have to talk to someone at a job, and they can't hear you.

I can attest to both of these...works great. The salt water really sooths a sore throat for a little bit too...but it wears off fast.

As a singer, I've learned what the most effective ways to bring your voice back are, and those are the absolute best ways to do it.

Well... it's always in the last place you'd look.
