I bought a fifth generation, 160 GB. My nephew borrowed it for an extended period of time and he told me that it broke, though it was not abused.

I tend to believe him, because he tends to tell the truth.

So my question is that what is a good durable MP3 player that can stand up to normal day use without running the risk of breaking down a few months after buyng it.

I don't want to spend any more money on it, if I cannot find a reasonably durable product.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

If you don't want an iPod, Creative makes good MP3 players.

Buy one used or something. That way it's cheap and it's no big deal if it breaks after a while.

I've never owned an IPod ir mp3 player for that matter. Maybe one day I will.

I think I'm the only guy in the world that still carries a portable radio.

A portable radio is kinda like an IPod. It's like an Ipod that's always on shuffle. And it doesn't always play the songs you like. And there's commercials in between the songs. And the quality depends on how you turn a knob. And the batteries don't last long.

Yeah. Kinda like an IPod. Maybe.

I'm not opposed to getting another one. However, if they cannot stand up to day-to-day living they're no good to me.

The old-style walkman's could stand up to being chucked onto a bed. I'm not expecting the Ipod's to be that durable, but something where I don't have to gently put it down every time would be nice.

I'll definitely consider Creative.

The new nano's were just ****ing put out a year and a half ago, and now there's a new one being put out?! :cmad:

The 8gb comes in diff colors and is the same price as the current 4gb ones, mind you, that only comes in silver, because in order to be cool and get a variety of colors, you had to spend over 200 bucks for the 8gb, but nooo now you get a 16gb colored one for the same price as the current 8gb one.

**** apple. They're never getting my money again. I'm officially buying a different brand of mp3 player.

I hate apple.

I have a 160GB iPod classic. They announced today that it's discontinued. It shouldn't affect me in the short run, but in the long run maybe.

:lmao: :lmao: Stop. Please. You're killing me, here. :lmao:

But on a serious note. I just bought the one I have. It's a piece of crap anyways. I end up have to up grade the ipod and the itunes players at least once a month. The battery doesn't stay charged very long. And it has it's days when it feels like loading properly, or deleting my songs.

The only good thing about the Ipods is that they working (save for volume adjustments) after going through a cycle in the washing machine. :down

That's just like saying, "They came out with Blu Ray, I'm not watching movies anymore!". Nobody's forcing you to get the new nano...in fact, I'm fine with my regular DVD-player and last year's nano.

i have an 80GB ipod classic, and I'm just fine with it

the new iTunes 8 has a feature where you pick a song and it automatically makes a playlist for you of similar songs in your library. It's kind of cool. Also, NBC is back on iTunes. I can get Heroes and The Office on my iPod!

I don't need to buy a new nano or ipod in general. I was making a general statement.

I just think it's crazy that they keep up grading stuff so frequently... not that anyone of you people think it's crazy.

I know what you mean. I mean, they're going to phase out certain features soon for the earlier models. I remember getting the iPod Classic I have now (5th Gen) and there were people complaining that the new iPod games iTunes had were not available for the older iPods. Eventually, the iPod you have will be phased out. Just not anytime soon.

12 months, and especially 18, are a lifetime in the tech world. Besides, this really shouldn't come as a surprise since there has ALWAYS been an ipod revision every year.

I don't know why people buy Ipods with 160GB, how many songs do people have on those things? I have an 8GB and I hold at least 15 songs on it.

I have an iPod Nano, and I probably won't get this new version because it's not broken (yet). One feature that I would like to have is the ability to shuffle songs, which you can do just by shaking the new Nano iPod. Often times I get bored with the same order of song list, but I don't want to manually shift them around.

15 songs? Jeez. My friends thought me having only 115 songs on my iPod was a waste.

Are you talking about the current nano or the one that will be put out soon (the one mentioned in that article)?

You can shuffle on the current nano. I've done it plenty of times.

I've always assumed you could shuffle songs on any Ipod.

Has anyone tried the new Itunes yet? It's cool.

Some people have 150+GB music libraries on their computers that they like to be able to take with them on the go. :ninja:
