Okay so It's been a while since I last picked up a Spider-Man comic book. Actually I haven't picked up any comic book since a year before Civil War began. I had some money issues and to be honest, wasn't enjoying the (at that point) current story line with Spider-Man.

However, money is no issue again, and i'm wanting to get back into Spider-Man. So where should I begin? Which comics do I pick up and where to start?

Oh, just pick up the latest issue of ASM (which is now 3x a month). You should be able to hop on board. Everything's pretty much the same as you left it. :cwink:

Seriously, I guess pick up the trade Civil War, and the trade Civil War: Amazing Spider-Man to see what happened there.

Then skip One More Day because it will make your eyes bleed.

Then pick-up where Brand New Day starts. Then, when you are confused at what's what in the continuity, you're caught up with the rest of us! :oldrazz:

You can pick up the 54 issues of BND prior to ASM #600, but I'd suggest to simply start there...

Yes, I'd say pick up Amazing Spider-Man # 600, see if you like it, and then pick up # 601 and # 602. Amazing Spider-Man # 603 comes out this Wednesday.

Im def going for #601 onwards... because Mary Jane arc seems so interetsting...
but im still undecided on 600... =\

Personally, I would start at 600 onward.

Yeah I'd go with what everyone else is saying pick up 600 and go from there on. I started getting back into Spidey a little after BND started so I kind of got lucky. I ordered a stack of trades. I missed most of JMS's run which I'm glad they're putting in over sized trades now:). But I started with these trades: Civil War, the 2 Back In Black Trades, One More Day, and then the first 3 volumes of BND and started picking up individual issues from issue 564 on. If you want to read ever single thing thats happened you can pick up all those and the trades and the newer trades. They're pretty fast at getting trades out. The trade for the last big arc "American Son" should be out pretty soon. But yeah I'd say start at 600 and any questions you have ask on here or just check on wikipedia if you don't feel like buying about 150+ in trades to get caught up.

Don't bother. Quesada ruined the Spider Man comics. Instead, go to your local video store and purchase a copy of The Specatacular Spider Man Season One on DVD. Enjoy to your hearts' content.

Maybe you should let dusk20 be the judge of that. Not everyone shares the same opinions.

I've said this before in a few other threads. I actually prefer Peter to be single/dating. The whole married thing was fine when Ben was Spider-Man, but I guess I just enjoy the character more when he is struggling to make things work. And it never seemed to be that way when he was married.

They tried to, but it just didn't work. So i'm going to head to my local comic shop on friday or saturday this week and pick up from 600 on. It seems that's the best issue to start with. I'll try invest in some Civil War hardcovers to find out what that was all about. The unmasking of Peter actually had me wanting to get back into comics.

If you like a single Peter than you are going to have a lot of fun with the new direction.

Well I'm heading to the comic shop tomorrow, so I can't wait to see how I enjoy getting back into Spider-man. But am I correct in hearing that Amazing Spider-man is out 3 times a week?

Yes, Amazing Spider-Man comes out three times a month. Then starting in October in that last week where Amazing does not come out they are going to restart the Web of Spider-Man.

The Web of Spider-Man book will be dealing with the Spider-Man villains and the back up story will be the ongoing adventures of Spider-Girl, if you're into that story.

Great time to be a Spider-Man fan right now. Hope you enjoy the books, dusk!

Good Spider-Man titles...hmm...well, they're doing a new Ultimate Spider-Man book.

I'd recommend Amazing if you like single Peter, but even with that they've turned the character into a reckless fratboy with the brain-power of a gnat. IMO, of course.

well i picked up about $150AUS worth of comics on saturday. grabbing 601,601 and 603 plus about 15 issues between 545 and 598. i'm going to try and close that gap to eventually catch up with everything.

I felt like a little kid again when i first started reading comics. Such a great experience all over again. the issues i'm up to right now involve something about a Spider-Tracer killer......i've put them down for the moment.

I reccommend you hurry to your store and try to pick up ASM 595-600. the rest after that are just complete garbage for honry little kids.

What's "honry"?

Also: You have no idea what you're talking about. Might wanna build up some good will first, Mr 3-posts, before you start shooting off at the mouth and dissing the book's readership. We're not all "honry" little kids. Some of us may be "honry", but we're certainly not little. :bh:

Guys, for the last time. No bashing other people's opinions. Tell him what he should buy, not what he shouldnt.

can I tell him not to buy the Sins Past trade?

woah! All I'm saying is Mary Jane has ruined spidermna a countless number of times. I love spiderman 2!! ooh wait sshh heres more predictable diolouge... srry for spell mistakes I'm Polish

The cover of ASM 601-603 are a joke. Oooooh Mary Jane in short shorts next to Peter's moped...what the hell? That's not spiderman. In asm601 he wakes up drunk after having sex....

Yes, they certainly are sexing up the comics. (I find the solicitation for 606 pretty irritating. "Black Cat is back (and front!). BRAce yourself...The deck is STACKED" etc.) Then again, they always have. Sex sells. Take this for example:
