I just got this:

And it's installing and crap, and now I registered on PlayNC and it says I have to pay for the account or game? WTF? I paid for the game.... I know its the online version, but isn't 30 bucks enough?

I don't play online games that much, so this might be average knowledge, but please, inform me.

Yes, that's normal.

If you have a job, the fee really isn't that bad. You're essentially paying about $15 for about 15-20 hours of gameplay a month. If you play games often, think of how many times you've dropped $40-60 on a game that only had 10 hours of gameplay. Besides, I'm pretty sure you get the first month free, most MMO's give you that. Just install it and play it, you'll see why they can charge every month.

Looks like I'll have to make a return trip.
dont know too many places that would accept a return on open softwaree

I thought that game looked pretty cool and was interested in it but the monthly fee was what sopped me from purchasing

Can't you usually download the client software for MMOs for free?

A lot of the times, yeah. I don't know if you can for COH though.

It is kind of ridiculous for companies to charge for the client and for the monthly fee. I think all MMOs should be free to download, since the monthly fees are where they get the vast, vast majority of their income.

For a lot of them you can download the trial game, and pay for the monthly fee if you want to keep going.
The only thing for COH like that is available for European subscribers.
They'd know you're from Europe because of your credit card.

What's so special about Europe that makes them more deserving of free client software?

Fatties are the MMOs' bread and butter, though. The fatter they are, the harder it is for them to get up and leave the computer.

Paying every month for the right to play a game that I purchased is the reason is the reason I didn't get into EVE online. :cmad:

sadly enough i'm gonna pay for COH so dont feel bad...if you decide to pay then i'll get on the same server as you. I have the good verses evil addition too.

Its the same thing with about any online Pc game, Just look at WOW they will suck your money out too.

COH is only good if you have friends playing it with you, as leveling by yourself is impossible and it's nearly impossible to find a group of people doing the same missions as you :o

dude you can share missions with that sidekick thing that lets you do a mission with a person that can be 10 levels higher then you and get the same rewards out of it.

The simple rool is: "You must pay if you want good game today" I came up with that saying but it is true any online rpg suffers in graphics and gameplay without the mebership (Well not the graphics but yes to the gameplay) and then still the game is not that great...So consider this a very nice spa treatment of video games that you must pay for every back rub.

I'll just stick to renting all my games from Blockbuster, beating them over a few days, and then returning them. Much more cost-efficient.
