I read the script “Punisher 2”....

....I read the script “Punisher 2” written by Nick Santora (Prison Break) and cleaned up by Kurt Sutter two month ago…
And I understand why J.Dahl doesn’t want shot this script. Is it better that the first one Punisher direct by J. Hensleight but not as must be a story based on this great character and this violent univer!


I proposed to them ( Lion’s Gate) ideas that perfectly captures Frank Castle, and I guess they liked them…but nothing happened .I also know that they really like me teaser. If only Thomas Jane could watch it….

If it's better then the first, then I'm relieved. I thoroughly enjoyed the first film. It's very underrated. Forget ultraviolent Frank, as a movie figure, the first Punisher worked quite well.

Hi David,

Welcome to The SHH! Punisher boards. Thank you for your input. To describe this simply...Tom Jane is The Punisher. Period. It will be a complete waste of time to make a Punisher movie without him. Storywise...I don't know what to tell you other than try to make the movie "in line" with the comics. It's ok to draw from other film sources for inspiration (i.e. The Godfather, or Natural Born Killers, etc). Don't feel pressed to be an "original" because there are some great comic stories to build on and "naturalize." I'm sure any competent and creative writer will have no trouble piecing sources of inspiration and "canon" Punisher material together. I mean Disney just spent close to 600K for a script and story based on Adam and Eve.

Anyway, any Punisher film without Tom Jane as the Punisher will be worthless and incomplete especially if you are trying to tie continuity to the first film. They will BOMB at the box office. A reboot is another option worth considering. Oh, and stay away from PG-13 ratings...keep it R rated.

Bottom line...convince the studio to hire an excellent writer that is passionate about the Punisher and get Tom Jane involved $OMEHOW! Good Punisher Script + Tom Jane = $200M+ Box Office Revenue Domestic/DVD Sales. End Demo.

I think what he means is that the directors that truly understand the character are very rarely the directors that end up creating the final project. (i.e. Superman I vs Superman II). Christopher Nolan is the exception when it comes to the Batman franchise.

Does that make more sense?
 
Simply, I'm a massive Punisher fan. Naturally, if there were a movie that I would want to be as close to perfection above any other, this is it. I want that hardcore, no bull****, MAX Punisher. I don't see it happening.
The trailer this guy made already holds that very essence over the first actual film, which says a lot.
I just meant that it seems like more often than not these things are half-assed by completely undeserving parties. Every once in a while, we luck out and get great rarities like Batman Begins, Superman Returns and so forth. I don't see this being in that same field. This'll probably be another Ghost Rider.

David...LGF is f ** king stupid if they do not hire you to direct Punisher II. Period.

I thank you for putting forth the effort and intent. I think no matter which way this goes, you should make your own Punisher film, if that's possible in any way. I'm sure, from what you've already shown, it would be greatly appreciated. At the very least, a big cult hit. I dig French cinema a lot. Best of luck to ya.

I watched it 2 or 3 times, very good teaser! Dark, gritty, violent... that's the way it should be. Now, I want to see THAT Punisher 2 :)

Did you read the Hensleigh draft as well? It has some good parts and I think that War Zone would be a great title for the sequel...

I really like that Punisher short, but I'm... don't know what to call it. I have a hard time seeing anyone else in the role, other than Jane. He's the star, and he's ideas are IMO, great! I'd love to see the movie Tom has in mind.

And as long as that's not happening. No Punisher movie for me.

good luck my friend, if you get the gig, perhaps you can do the decent thing and get the only reason to watch a sequel.

That's the point. David plans on coming in and putting his own spin on Punisher (or so I believe) with a completely re-drafted script. Then him,Tom Jane, and a decent writer can corroborate and produce the best Punisher sequel EVER!
 
In fact when I say that this script is better that the first Punisher (2003) wrote by J.Hensleight, doesn’t mean that is good enough for a really good Punisher 2.
Not offence, but for me the first Punisher had a bad script!

I so a big fan of this character !
