I started my own webcomic

^Thanks, we want ForTheReels.com to be popular...

We just have no idea how to do that... :(

Make a Star Trek one and I'll post it on a few boards I know.

the Star Wars one was great...so were V and 300...and Memento...you're sort of like Theater Hopper, back when Theater Hopper was funny and not just about how much he hates Shia LeBouff.

Which one? My favorite was First Contact, but The Wrath of Kahn is probably a better choice...

We'll brainstorm a bit. We have the next handful of strips already planned, so a Star Trek one is probably weeks away.

And thanks for all the positive feedback everyone, it really, REALLY means a lot to me and JonnyDC :oldrazz:

It's got to be Generations dealing with Kirk's death.

We just put a knew comic up on our website. It's on the first Mortal Kombat movie, though it might make more sense to those who've played the video game.

And it's very Valentine's Day appropriate, I think.

Have you considered getting a SomethingAwful account and making a thread on this there? If they dont like it, you'll be brutally e-murdered, but if they do, it'll increase your traffic exponentially.

Aw jeez, I don't know if I'm ready to be e-murdered... I've only been up since mid December :(

But if you say it'll increase traffic...

Thanks :) I came up with the idea for the Memento strip after watching the movie in chronological order. You don't really think about what happens after the last (first) scene the way the film was actually edited.

great jokes, some brilliant ideas. but the art style just does make it a bit hard to look at

though i cant talk really i cant draw for ****

The MK one technically doesn't work, since what they're doing is Sodomy, not Beastiality. It would work better if one of them turned into, say, a panda, and the other got the strength to tackle it and start pounding away. Or just replace Beastiality with Sodomy--a funnier word, if I do say so myself.

Good work, though, I espicially loved the Se7en, V, and 300 strips. :woot:

it does work considering reptile isnt human, but a giant lizard

^fist constructive criticism! Thanks... I guess. The hardest part I've realized in producing strips is the coloring process. In the earlier strips, there's just WAY too much contrast in the gradients. Since then, I've tried toning them down and woking with filters and such, but it's still a learning process for me. Hopefully I'll be able to get that down soon.

And in looking at your deviant art profile... I'm pretty sure you CAN talk :D

These were funny, I will bookmark it into my daily visits!

Or better yet, give us your e-mail address through the site's Contact Page, Myspace Profile, (or just PM me or Johnny DC) and we'll add you to our Update List, where we notify you when a new strip is put up!

We're working on a Jurassic Park one right now...

I can draw, sort of. (My DeviantArt, be gentle) :o, just not consistently so I draw the comic with shape tools. If I used my Wacom Board, the characters wouldn't be as clean since I have a really sketchy style. I do all of the drawing in MS Paint and do a lot of copying/pasting.

But, anyway, yeah, thanks for the critique :cwink::up:. But mainly, I don't think it's so much the drawings but the coloring and layouts. We've established a fixed size for every strip, and a wide panel's pacing isn't as effective as one that's more narrow.

The art is by no means the worst art I've ever seen in a webcomic. And there are alot of webcomics that are brilliant that literally use stick figures for the art. As long as the writing and jokes stay strong, it doesnt need to look like Penny Arcade.

You're referring to Cyanide and Happiness, right? Man I love that strip, it was a huge inspiration for us.

agreed I in no way meant that it should. the style helps give the comic its unique look and feeling. after looking at them again i think its the idea that aspects of it have lots of jagged lines. that might be whats making it hard to focus on parts of it.

as you said it's not as clean, I would recommenced photoshop or a smiler programme that would allow you to keep your style but to clean up the sketchiness

of course this is me just giving feedback, it means nothing really. :)

I use Vector Magic to clean up the lines, it's hard to get the same effect out of Illustrator's Live Trace feature. It makes a nice vector image, but again, the Photoshop coloring process makes the edges look slightly jagged.

I wish i knew a way around that, I might just start coloring in Illustrator instead.

And since I don't want to turn this thread into a continuous advertisement for the comic (it was intended as more of an announcement thing), i'm probably going to just let this thread die... :csad: Unless anyone has anything to say.

But I want to say again that if you're interested in being notified when we put up a new comic, just PM me or Johnny DC and give us your e-mail adress, or go to the Contact Us section of our site.

Trust us, you're not going to want to miss what strips we have planned up ahead :woot:

:D

JP is one of my favorite movies. It's long irked me that neither of the kids got seriously hurt (by dinosaurs, not voltage, stop whining Timmy) in the movie.
