IDW Transformers Thread

I think War Within is still in continuity for the IDW stuff. IDW's putting out reprints of the trades, so I figure they count towards IDW's TF stories. I still haven't read WW, but isn't Megatron: Origins before the WW period? I thought Megatron was already established by WW time.
I don't mind it. I think it's nutty enough to actually work in the scheme of the comic.

Hopefully Furman won't go overboard with it and have humans join up with all the characters. Sunstreaker will be enough, and even then, if he meets some terrible fate with Hunter onboard, it could make a neat end to Devastation.

I want to see Prime call in the Wreckers to fight off Six-shot.
From the looks of one of next issue's covers, Prime calls in himself to fight off Sixshot. Which, after his pretty pathetic defeat at Megatron's hands, I'm down with, to be honest.

Yeah, I saw that cover. Unfortunately, since it's the next issue - isn't it? - we're probably going to see Prime get whooped again.

But that's kind of fair. I mean, Prime hasn't been trashed. He got whooped by a superpowered Megatron. And considering the Decepticons think of Six-Shot as their ultimate weapon, it should either be a huge and epic battle between the two of them, or Sixy should whoop Optimus.

Which is why Optimus should call in his team of uber assault bots. :cmad:

Were they that dissimilar?

If they were, I blame it on Milne (the artist for Megatron: Origin). I didn't like that much of his art anyway.

Eh, it was okay, I suppose.
They weren't too dissimilar; they were both obviously Megatron, but they were still very noticeably not the same body.

War Within Megs:

Infiltration and Origin Megs (it's the same body in both stories, but he was sporting some tribal-esque tattoos in "Origin"):

I really like the way both bodies look on the page, but if you ever get the toy of his War Within body, you see that it really sucks (his tank mode is basically just his robot mode lying down), so I don't mind the change at all.

Yeah, Origin is before WW, but he had the same body from Origin in Infiltration, so it's highly unlikely that he changed his body into the one seen in War Within, and then changed it back in time for Infiltration.

Eh, just imagine his Origin body in War Within from now on. Short of IDW having someone re-drawing the entire WW mini-series, that's about all you can do. I personally prefer the Origin body anyway.

Finally finished "Megatron: Origin," as well as "Infiltration." I gotta say, I like Megs' cybertronian body much more than the one he had in "War Within," despite how awesome Figueroa rendered it. I suppose if WW is still in continuity, then his body's been retconned to be the one seen in "Origin," right?

The "War Within," is not in continuity any more."Megatron: Origins" and the rest of IDW's G1 comics has to many different conflicts with the War Within.

Why's IDW reprinting War Within and using Optimus' WW design for Stormbringer's flashbacks, then?

Who know's.Its a popular design ...but there is a few differences between his WW and Stormbringer bodies..But if you've been reading the IDW G1 books then you know that the first Gestalt is Monstructor but in WW they already have Gestalts.

There are a good number of other differences I could bring up but I'd be here all night.

Who's on the Wreckers again?
I don't remember all of them off the top of my head, but they did own in Stormbringer.

And Springer leads them. And their entire existence rocks and screams, DEMANDING, they either come into the different phases or star in another mini.

Screw this Beast Wars crap with all kinds of idiot Japanese characters. Print a mini-series about the adventures of the Wreckers opening a can of whoop.

Wreckers vs. Reapers!

I think that the Reapers are from an old G1 Transformers Blackthorn comic book.I got to go find those books.

Okay?

I don't care where or when they were originally thought up, if they were.

I just think that if the freaky Reapers who are like Horsemen of the Apocalypse in IDW are going to come to Earth and possibly have a showdown with Six-Shot if he tries to stop them, the Wreckers should be on the scene too to mess them up.

Then again, I think the Wreckers should be on the scene period. The point is that I'm trying to find a logical reason.

Yeah the Wreckers are pretty awsome:woot:

BW: The Ascending's latest issue came out last week. Anyone get it? I'm getting kind of tired of the story. It's just not all that interesting to me, especially since it revolves around Angolmois and features absolutely no characters I give a crap about. But I'll keep reading, if only for Figueroa's art.

I picked it up and I thought it was really good but so far I'm likeing the way the story has been going so I might not be a fair judge for you on wether or not the story was any good.

But you might want to pick it up for an other reason.Don Figueroa has announced that he will be leaving Transformers comics and wont be returning to them for at least a year.

I'm not sure if he's going to finish the Ascending story arch. There is a rumor about a "easter ege" Don plased on the last page of Ascending 3.I cant find it by my eye's are pretty bad with small words but the rumor is that Don wrote the words goodbye and thankyou on one of the last pages of Ascending 3.

He's not even finishing out the mini?

Yeah, that's lame. Way to show us your thanks, Donnyboy.

Well he laid out some good reasons in his statement and he's may be working in Hasbro's TF toy designing department so that great news for thoses of us that are TF toy collecters.

I don't really care where he's going or what he's doing.

End of the day, it's unprofessional. It's unprofessional on his level, and it's unprofessional on IDW's level for letting it happen. He should have been held to doing the last issue of Ascending so the mini was complete.

But then, unprofessionalism seems to be a recurring theme in today's comics industry.

Well I'm not sure if he finished the last issue or not.I only skimed the interview but I guess I cant blame you for your view if hw did leave it unfinished. But he wouldnt be the first artist to leave a book mid story.

Thank you but thats a CGI rendering. The toy hasnt been made yet.The WW Megatron toy was quite different.
Yeah, but still, the new(ish) Megatron body would look amazing on my desk. With the current standard for detail in many of the more popular Transformers character toys (Masterpiece Prime, Leader class Prime and Brawl, and the stunning Deluxe class '08/'09 Bumblebee), I wouldn't be surprised if/when we see the new Megs, he comes with the option to take his helmet off and reveal those folding out spikey-things that he showed in the second (I think) issue of "Origin" after killing an opponent.

I could even paint some "Origin" tattoos/markings/whatever on his body. The thought makes me happy.

It would be great but as far as I know theres no plans to make such a figure....at least not in the first half of 08.
