If i could make a sticky about Smallville, it would go something like this:

They aren't really Chloe fans and they are not iconic Lois Lane fans either (as they claim). They are Chlarkers. They want Chloe to end up with Clark and the only way she can do that for the long haul is to become Lois Lane. That's the theory in a nutshell, although they would deny that to their dying breath. And it's sad because when that doesn't happen they will be disappointed in Chloe because she didn't get what *they* wanted her to have. How they can call themselves Chloe fans I don't understand either. I like Chloe for Chloe.
Well that's pretty much exactly what I was wondering. Thanks for explaining it. I'm certainly not as big a fan of Chloe or Lois, as I am of Lana.. but I really do like all three of the women. I mean, they're part of my show. I may not like the things they do with them all the time, but that's across the board too, and even includes Clark on occasion. *coughHypnoticcough* ;)

So.. does the Chlois theory mean that Lois will actually have to DIE? Damn.. that's hardcore. I've always thought there was a good chance that they will eventually kill Chloe off, but I'd be just as fine if they don't, and rather.. they send her off to be an overseas correspondent or something. Killing Lois would be just horrible for so many reasons. Geez.. I'm a Clana fan, and I don't even want Lois dead!

"Never. Say. Never."

That's my SV sticky. Apply it liberally to everything and anything. And don't miss behind the ears or between the toes.

Kaboom, your a genius.

I think a mod needs to sticky this message, since our forum has been inundated with useless threads as of late. :woot:
i know this is like 3 pages ago, but i just wanted to read it again. =)

Always on your side Kaboom.

I was away for a little while, and the whole board got out of whack!!!:wow:

now its our job to bring it back.
and get it on the right track
so nobody has to see a quack

He can hate on whoever he wants, because heaven forbid we censor anyone or anything around here.

I think that every forum should have certain standards, maybe not all in black and white, but enough to make it a place that's not unpleasant for the people who like to frequent there. When that atmosphere changes, because of people intentionally trying to stir the pot and be jerks, the choice is to either try and read the forum with every other post on Ignore (which is a pain), or to leave.
ah yes, good find
that was one of my better comments...i almost forgot about it

One more moment of sidetracking, Kaboom. Sorry, but I just had to respond to this post after skimming the thread...

what's the test here? how about this one: Can they use it on TV? and the answer is yes...

...by that rational, users here should not be allowed to say "Iron Man is a *****e" or likewise. there is no need to censor here...
Ever hear that it's all in the context? Because not ALL definitions to some words deemed "offensive" are meant to be derogatory. Cut and paste below to see an example of the definition of one such word:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bitch

But if somebody on SHH were to bypass the board censors and describe a fictional character as a "bitch," they could get probation or even banned. Hell, I guess I'm taking that risk right now.

I just hope this post will be read with some objectivity, especially by somebody who finds censorship a "fascinating subject." Words like "****e," when used to describe a living person - in this case, the lead actress for the show this forum is dedicated to - could be considered trollish if the end result pisses-off the people who frequent said forum. If it upsets people and they in fact tell you that it does, isn't it kinda rude to press the issue?

Is it just an opinion? Sure. I've got tons of harmless opinions about things as innocuous as the color of a movie costume, but apprently I can't say it here lest I risk being banned.

On the topic of "censorship," I think there needs to be a little more tolerance here, not to mention better judgment in how words are applied because intent is not always clear.

Okay, I'm done. See y'all in a week if I just pissed-off the wrong people...

I hate having to ignore people but it's either that or leave altogether because there are some that can't behave no matter what.

It's better to not read crap from people that just piss you off.

As for your leaving, I really wish you wouldn't...

I know the trolls can be hard to deal with and having too many people on ignore is a pain (I think I'm up to 8 or 10 myself) but isn't there some other reason to hang around?

I'll miss you if you go, but I'll always be your IM and LJ buddy.

*hugs*

See...that's the thing. There is no "one" way that they think Chloe will become Lois. There are all kinds of different possibilities (none that make sense to me). They honestly don't care how it happens; just so long as it does.

Some think that since Lois isn't interested in journalism (although that reasoning seems to be sinking like the Titanic this season) Lois would just let Chloe use her name. Why Chloe would need to do that is a mystery to me though. Some say Lois is a red herring. Some think that Lois would need to be killed off (at the end of the series) so Chloe could take her name to honor her dead cousin who had died.

None of their scenarios are plausible. They all read like bad fan fic.

Before Lois came on to the show, it was a more plausible theory because Chloe actually *was* going to be Lois Lane. Although I still think Chloe lacks that vital spark to be the real Lois. But now if she became Lois, Lois Lane would be no more than a pen name and I think that would be a grave disservice to a character that I have loved for *cough* almost 30 years.

But since Lois Lane was actually introduced on the show, this theory is just... (fill in blank. I am trying to be nice.)

I don't want to see either girl die. I like them both and I want to see them both succeed.

I'd hate to see you leave either. It's a shame people can't express their veiws in a nice, polite manner. I've recently decided not to go back to two boards I read (though I didn't post often) because of all the hate. It's just not fun and Smallville is my fun and I want to keep it that way.

There is nothing wrong with differences of opinion, that's what makes the world full of flavors and not just vanilla. But there is a world of difference between a difference of opinion and those who try to be intentionally argumentative.

Maybe going back to kingergarten and learning to play nice might work.

Noone is going anywhere. It's just tough having to wait for Smallville after such a good premiere. :woot:

New addition to the list:

Lana is not Kryptonian!!!!!

Haha... that's hilarious. But you'd think hating on Lana would be redundant with all mortal injuries she's recieved.

Would you put a "Smallville DTV to end the series" in your sticky as well, cuz I know it comes up pretty often and honestly, I want to start a new one...

no threads about disposable body parts

if youre going to bash the show, watch it first

I've always said.. it's all about expectations. Hate it or Love it for what it actually is, and not for what you think it should be.
I don't wholly agree with this. Superman's been around quite a while, so, naturally, people have expectations. To say "Hate it or love it for what it is," as you have, sounds to me alot like "Accept without question or doubt."
It's one thing to understand a show or film as trying to be different, fresh, whatever you want to call it, but it's another to suggest that people shouldn't find fault with the way(s) it goes about being different.

thanks man, I've been saying this for 6 years now.

and I disagree with 'rene's statment. I've watched this show since the beginning. At first I was totally happy. But I found that the show could be ten time better than it is as time progressed (this disheartened feeling that I get from SV, started around the end of season 2 and mid season 3). But I agree, I don't love smallville for what it could be. I still watch SV, for what is could be. I like SV fine, but I will always hope that the show, and those who are writing it, will begin to take themselves more seriously. At that point, SV, might just resume it's rightful place as a beloved show of mine.

but for now, SV has been displaced by shows that have a little more realistic and gritty zing to them, like 24 or BSG. Real people, in ridiculous situations, doing ridiculous things. Rather than Ridiculous people, doing ridiculous things, in ridiculous situations. I feel like SV is on par with Lois and Clark, but with a little bit more a cool vibe thrown in to update it slightly

You like 24 better than SV because it has "real" people? Oh c'mon! We all know Jack Bauer is an alien who battles superhuman foes on a weekly bases. Sheesh!

:p :D

That's crazy talk again. What in the world does Lois & Clark have in common with SV?

:p :p

Just yankin' yer chain, SF. ;)

2) Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman have as good of a chance of showing up on Smallville as the Cubs have of winning a World Series this year, which is to say zero.

Lets say Smallville has anohter season or two, and the Cubs win it all this season. What are the chances then?

You didn't address the part of my sentence that you cut off.

Hate it or Love it for what it actually is, and not for what you think it should be.

I'm not saying "don't hate it" or even don't criticize it, but to ***** and moan because the show isn't the show that you personally (generic 'you') wants to see is unreasonable. It is what it is. Criticism should be based on what's presented, and not judged from how far it veers from some personal vision of what the "true" Superman tale is supposed to be. It's an impossible standard for any show to cater to each individual viewers vision.

Hate the show because you think it's a shoddy production, or the actors suck, or the plots are contrived.. but not because you aren't getting your own personal Superman show.
