Btw, I never heard people making gay jokes on Phillippe Seymour Hoffman, even though he has played two gay characters in films already, but is a straight man in life. Why is it that Ledger and Gyllenhaal getting all the gay jokes just because they did BBM?

Probably because BBM is more popular and well-known. Apparently most of the cast of Batman Begins has also played a gay role before, but I know most people (including myself) wouldnt' be able to tell you what role that was.

watanabe played a gay samurai :)

The Last Samurai. I think.

And to answer your question, no, it wouldn't. But frankly, I just don't see Gyllenhaal as Harvey Dent. If Nolan does cast him, then so be it. He's impressed me with BB, so why not BB2? I trust in him and that he will deliver a great sequel that may even succeeds the original.

The "Brokebat" jokes would, though.

[Jake Dent and Heath Joker have a chat on-screen]
Jake Dent: "There's no escaping this, Heath Joker."
Heath Joker: "Get the **** away, Jake Dent!"
Audience: "Kiss and make up already!"

Yeah, I've no idea what film he was talking about. The guy made many Japanese films. He might've been a gay samurai in one of 'em.

However, his dying scene with Tom Cruise might've come off as a little homoerotic to some people. <shrugs>

no it won't bother me , it are just actors who are doing there jobs , and not everyone has seen brockeback mountain

Everyone's heard of it.

If I can survive 'bat-nipples' fiasco as well as 'Batman and Robin' in general, I'm sure I can survive a "brokeback" mountain connection.

As along as the movie is good and true to the Batman legend, I personally don't care.

It would bother me because like many have said he wouldnt be good as Dent anyway..

I voted "Yes". I honestly don't feel that Jake G. would be right for the role of Harvey Dent. He doesn't look the part and I feel he is too young. But a lot of people would make Brokeback jokes if he was cast. I mentioned to a friend that Ledger is going to be the Joker in the sequel to Begins and the first thing out of her mouth was "The Brokeback Mountain guy?". Nuff said.

He might be 26, but he looks even younger than that. I'd much rather see a slightly older Harvey Dent.

Gyllenhaal's voice also ruins it for me. Dent needs a strong, manly voice. Schreiber has that in spades. Gyllenhaal's still squeeking from puberty.

Gyllenhaal CAN look much younger than 26, however he can also look older than his age too.

<--- IMO that is a perfect look for Harvey Dent

I think him being younger than Wayne is actually a plus.
For me Dent being older than Wayne would just seem a bit silly. I dont want to see an old geezer lawyer kicking Batman's a$$.

I actually think the connection with Brokeback mountain will help their performances. Especially if the Joker is the one that acids Dent. Besides the fact that it wil make all the jackasses realize they were just acting in BB it will make the vs. connection between the Joker and Dent deeper.

Just wanted to add someone said something about Gyllenhaal playing spidey...
I love Gyllenhaal but he is not Parker, I really hope that doesnt happen and Maguire sticks to Spiderman because that casting was/is incredibly perfect.

so...? maybe they are forgetting that like pretty much things from movies , things from movies you never forget are like those lines from die hard , terminator...for example , but why are people making such a big problem of this ?? because he played a gay role ?? we know the joker isn't gay and i trust nolan in what he does .

Do we know the Joker isnt gay? :p

He definately has an effeminate flare in his mannerisms.
Just like Ledger does in real life actually. All of the interviews ive seen him in he demonstrates very eccentric mannerisms. Nothing like any of the characters he has formed, though, his physical performance in The Brothers Grimm comes close.

i don't even think about it until everyone keeps bringing it up.
but now that it HAS been brought up...
*runs to store to buy AA batteries*

I would not be bothered by this Brokeback connection, but I wouldn't like to see him as Two-Face.
