If Miller Is Off The Project...Who Is YOUR Director?

Alex Ross and Paul Dini come to mind as great creative consultants.

Dini would be great as a creative consultant.

Alex Ross would be good as a costume designer only.

I'd prefer it directed properly, true to the source material, by Smith, somebody who is a comic fan who respects the property he's adapting

Respect means nothing unless the director does have the necessary skills to implement it properly. We'd be getting Daredevil all over again. JL deserves better.

and is a talented director

Smith is talented but what he does isn't making good serious action movies.

plus a comic book writer, which is certainly relevant to the Justice League.

I'd prefer someone like Geoff Johns (except keep him way from WW, that's his weak spot) or David Goyer (just as the screenwriter).

They could do that better then Smith.

Smith is a talented director

His talents are limited. All he's shown good at directing is romantic and stoner comedies nothing else.

who's comic book skills fit the Justice League with a relevant track record as a comic writer and he's a director who respects the property he's adapting and is a screenwriter himself who actually is a major fan and, I believe, has the skills necessary to do it justice on the big screen.

We're going in circles now. I've already explained why Smith doesn't fit JL.

He shouldn't even get to a DC adaption before he's made his own good serious action movie.

He will have people to help him pull it off.

Every director does.

We are going in circles now. This is just were you and I differ. We'll have to agree to disagree on Kevin Smith.

...So I guess we should just close this thread and all of the other threads in the JL forum, because that is the only thing we can do, is speculate? :yay:

Don't let TheVileONe read this. That's what he wants.

Yea those two would probably make a sweet film and make it have that epic feel it should have.

There are alot of very good directors out there that could do this film right.
If I could pick two, Peter Jackson or Steven Spielberg come to mind.

No way in hades it will ever happen, but one can dream.

Kevin Smith is a great choice for Director of Justice League. I know he has supposedly said he's not the right guy to direct a comic book movie, but I think he underestimates himself. He's a fan of comics just like us, so he would probably give us the most accurate interpretation we could hope for. As a fan, Kevin has sat in the theater and watched unfaithful comic book films, he knows what it's like to be let down. I think he would work his fingers to the bone to make sure we have the best possible Justice League movie.

Exactly!

Kevin Smith is such an arrogant ass! I agree with him on some points, but I just watched one of his interviews about Tim Burton and it was ridiculous!

I mean Burton may have been completely wrong for Superman, but the guy is an amazingly talented director. Smith wishes he could have the kinda of success he's had. He just comes across as a man filled with sour grapes to me.

i really hope they learn from tdk on this one and don't pull a huge cgi f@# fest...wait a minute it seems inevitable given the material...maybe they'll learn and make a film with a plot that won't treat the audience like dullards. theyve got to sharpen the drama or else im expecting a cgi orgy.

Miller - the guy's an artist--but his loyalty to the Australian film industry irks me. Just make the movie...otherwise truly an artist.

Jackson - no brainer - the guy's an artist, brilliant imagery, stunning imagination. So many scenes from LOTR and Kong were just damned awesome.

Lucas - I know, I know...but the guys got one helluva imagination...

Raimi - He knows comics and he knows how to film them. He's an artist as well.

Favreu -He knows comics and he knows how to film them. He's also an artist and he's familiar with fantasy films.

The director of a JLA movie must be able to deliver stunning visuals, NOT PEDESTRIAN VISUALS. REAL COMICBOOK, WOW, ARTSY STUFF. I'M TALKING LOTR, SM2, IM, TIH, SW, WOW, CEOTK LEVEL VISUALS.

That doesn't bother me to much. It's a noble endeavor.

Agreed.

If Miller didn't turn JLA into Super Friends he definitely will.

Visuals are very important but a well executed, interesting script is needed just as much. LOTR, the Spider-man trilogy and Iron Man were good films who had heart with complex characters which were easy to care about.

Without that aspect it's just a random Michael Bay flick. Which JLA shouldn't be.

Well after seeing the Watchmen trailer before seeing TDK.....I am now convinced that if WB's goes with a JL movie in say 2012 with Bale and Routh, then Zack Snyder should be the director!

Without a doubt! :hehe:

Either McG or Michael Bay. This whole movie should be rotating cameras, slow motion capes and really big explosions. And one of Batman or Superman should be asian.

Oh yeah. :woot:

and you know he's gonna treat the characters with respect. :yay:

I understood you the first time. :oldrazz:

I'd be happy if he took over Superman too. :woot:

Get Paul Haggis to write it too.
