Would the reaction be the same? I wonder if the perception of SR would be any different if he never made the comment he was giving a vague history to Donner's work.

Jc dude..give it a rest.

people would still complain.

Yeah they would complain people would still tell Singer TO BE ORIGINAL!
And original in a good way.... Not like having Lois with a 5 year old son who looks 9 original.
That would be a bad way to be original...

i thought most people wpuld like the fact that the donner movie is a background. If not that movie would be obsolete, and i dont want that to happen. I want them to build upon each successive film that fits somewhat into each other, like STM, the donner cut, SR and so on

A live action movie based on a cartoon, just what Superman needs...

you do realise that the problem isn't what he refer to. the core problem is his "insane" idea.

It's not so much that SR is supposed to be based on the Donnerverse, but that he picked the worst aspects of the Donnerverse films to follow up on and therefore made a movie that felt like a rehash of ideas with a Superman that was completely off character.

It's source is not the problem, the problem is with the actual things that are in the moive.

Having SR based on S:TAS and still having Superman have a son in the manner that he did(with the same surrounding circumstances) would not make things any better for me. Although certain things still bother me, I can live with just about everything else in the movie as it stands now. It's the kid, in the manner he was introduced, that really drags things down for me.

So in other words...

I'm glad none of you are producers.

If Singer would've based the backstory on the STAS and actually build up on those ideas, then we wouldn't still be here *****ing about the WHOLE movie. The core problems are the presented storylines and the pre-crisis take on the characters. STAS is better in anything Singer delivered. And for the public the story would've been fresh and original, no need to drastically change what worked before. Ever heard of those little Spider-Man movies? Being original doesn't mean you have to redo the characters in a Burton way. Presenting the source like it is can and will work.

is this a trick? do you have any new info on the sequel and are you now testing us :)?

Sorry. THere's nothing creative about the plot in question. It is recycled lame Soap Opera plot #1.

Also, don't confuse creativity with quality creativity.

Considering that it would be based on something they like, the film could be complete crap and they would love it.

Well if the Donner remake (Superman Returns) is any indication, Singer would just waste everybody's time.

Well if the Donner remake (Superman Returns) is any indication, Singer would take a great source and FUBAR it completely.
And if the source was S:TAS I bet a lot of the people who hated SR would love the film. The entire reason why the Spider-Man movies get away with delivering a poorly constructed love story and lack of charismatic lead actors every installment is because a few comic homages are shoved in.

Exactly. Fangasms are easy to achieve.
