Just say the Smallville gods were smiling on us and Warner and Nolan decided to transition the Smallville cast to the big screen. How would you do it? And what would you want to see?
I would just really enjoy seeing some money put into both f/x and locations.

Also, no hater or it's not going to happen. This is a what if thread.

I would like to see Nolan's take on a big alien invasion or something. I know he's all for realism but Superman isn't exactly realistic

yea as much as we sv fans would love to see sv guys used in the new film. its not likely going to happen. For the next film the best thing for it would be its own thing new story, new look, new cast so it can be on its own two feet and not piggybacking off of any past media take fully. But it would be interesting if it did happen.

As for nolan and realism. Sure his batman is a more realistic take on the character and that works for batman. But that isnt what he is likely going to do with the superman film he is going to be producing. Its been said on the supes boards nolan knows the differences to the characters so he will probably help shape the new film to be a good thing.

I think WB dropped the ball on this about five years ago. If they had ended the show's run with the season five finale. They could've set up a real return of Zod (not Lex-Zod) for Smallville's big screen debut.

Though at this stage, I'm not sure what they could do. Smallville has ran through just about every major Superman villain, except for Prankster, Kryptonite Man, Darkseid, Imperiex, and Mongul, and couple others. I got a feeling Darkseid will be showing up in S10. So I'm not sure who they would use for the antagonists or what the story could be. They've already covered a lot of ground and character growth for Clark and company already.

Now, back in S5, there was still a lot more territory to cover. I don't think that's the case any more. Though I wouldn't mind any future Superman movie looking to Smallville for inspiration in terms of updating the look and feel of the Superman mythos, while still finding ways to be respectful of the comics and the Donner-Reeve films. If Smallville can make pretty neat FX for Doomsday, Brainiac, Kryptonians, etc. there is no excuse that a big Hollywood film can't.

yea it sucks the tv shows/cartoons in the past 20 yrs have done alot better with the character. But the yahoos execs in the film decision cant make the right bloody calls :(

man this site is always running slow. :cmad:

anyways this is why im not a fan of nolan being involved. i didn't like the new batman movies and superman doesn't need any realism.

smooth there is no word as of now if nolan's superman will be appraoched like his realims batman. As i told u in another thread its been stated nolan knows the differences to the characters, plus he has goyer and other within dc comics to help him along. Also he is only going to be producer not directing the film. So also its going to be up to who ever is the director on what is going to happen in the film. I am sure wb wants superman to be a scifi/fantasy action film. They are not going to make the wrong calls this time. Cause this is it for them pretty much more counting on how the continuiting legal drama goes in the next few yrs.

Nolan's Superman film will be amazing.

His team can do science fiction, check out this latest trailer of Nolan's new film (it's very Brainiac-like):

There will be a strong realism component on doubt, however, the Goyer/Jonah Nolan script is bound to be amazing if Chris approved of it, very true to the 80s comics.

yea i bet the only realism stuff will be with how human characters are in the world, and how they interact as characters to make them well rounded out characters. But superman and what he can do and villains will probably be fully scifi/fantasy deal. but looking on it probably being like a realistic world but how superman would be in a world like that and how they react to a being like supes.

Which is good. They haven't done that concept in live action yet. The goofy 1978 world was far from realistic, and Smallville also requires a lot of suspension of disbelief.

I was amused how Chloe mentioned the UN thought the attacks by Zod all over the world were a 'hoax' ... Those were the equivalent of terrorist attacks, similar to the attack on the Pentagon. They would be a huge deal.

totally we just dont know for sure where nolan producing and jonah/goyer writing is going to take the character. Plus who knows who else will have a hand in shaping the script, for all we know someone could come in polish script, or even director hired will want to edit stuff. the next film is still a total mystery.

He's mentoring the director, so I think Nolan's directorial vision will be maintained. But it will be a good thing.

sure probably will, but we will just have to see who is directing on when the film is in production vs nolan batman 3 production time. Cause if they are shooting around same time next yr nolan will likely have a less of a hand in the directing process. Or if its after he shoots batman 3 then he likely going to have a bigger hand. So many questions to wonder.

True. I'm not too worried about the director, honestly.

Nolan's approval of the script (as per his interview) calmed by biggest concern.

With a Superman script that Nolan likes, everything's on a great track. Imagine a Superman film as great as "The Dark Knight" was; getting the same critical praise and popularity. It doesn't seem a far fetched possibility anymore.

Superman could finally be a property to be taken seriously in the mainstream. No doubt this will be a sophisticated, thought-provoking film.

totally i am not worried right now to we know who is directing, and once we are in casting stage and who else is added in on production side of things. But for right now i am happy.

I'm thrilled they're using John Byrne's "Man of Steel" as the inspiration for the reboot script, like "Batman Year One" for Batman Begins.

We're getting Brainiac, which intrigues me the most.

Also, it's confirmed we're getting Lexcorp Lex, which is good. They never really presented the postcrisis Lex onscreen yet. Lex as the corrupt self-made businessman with dark and murderous roots in the Suicide Slums.
