If you controlled the DCEU and could do anything.....

A lot of these other characters can still be salvaged. Superman is in the most need of help in changing the reception towards him. At some point he needs a crowd-pleaser.

Use the resurrection as a soft reboot. Save the return of Clark Kent for MOS 2. Superman takes on Brainiac. Hire a creative team that will include a sense of awe and wonder to the tone. Have a director that will allow Henry and Amy to display their natural charm.

^I love a good redemption movie. How would you incorporate Brainiac into the movie's themes?

I would go for Metallo, with him being a soldier that was put out of commission by collateral damage from Superman's attack on the warlord from BvS. The man backing Metallo would be an up and coming tyrant that stepped in to fill the power vacuum Superman created when he killed the warlord. Metallo would be used to consolidate the new tyrant's power in Africa, along with the acquisition of various bioweapons, you know, dirty bombs and the like. Superman would try to defeat Metallo by talking him down rather than engaging in battle; this would prove ineffective, costly, and force Superman to find a way to fight this villain while minimizing the damage to Metropolis and wherever else they fight.

I would tie this into the idea that Clark Kent might be able to do just as much good for Metropolis and the world at large as Superman - let good investigative journalism rattle the cages of the movers and shakers to deal with the world's evils. Like, a hard-hitting piece on the tyrant's rise in Africa may have prompted intervention before Metallo's creation, allowing the soldier that would become Metallo to get the kind of physical and psychological treatments he'd need for his maiming. This would let us move toward a Clark Kent that still works for the Planet and a Superman that can be deployed when journalism fails.

Man of Steel III: In Fires Forged

This is the film where I'd use Brainiac. I would cast Brainiac as an extremely intelligent extraterrestrial that once ruled an entire planet. He lost that planet to Mongol and intends to get revenge on Mongol.

Clark Kent and Lois Lane are investigating a human trafficking ring run by a man who should be dead - Anatoli Knyazev. Both of them get a demonstration of KGBeast's new abilities when one of his men, evidently horrified by what he's seen of KGBeast's new customers. At that moment, one of the customers appears - an extraterrestrial by name of Mongol. Clark is hesitant to spring into action, fearing for the innocents being sold off to Mongol. During the exchange, Clark hears something about the deposed ruler Brainiac.

Lois runs the story on the trafficking ring while Clark digs into his Kryptonian lore to see if he can find any references to a being named "Brainiac." He discovers that Brainiac - a once benevolent ruler - was usurped by his second-in-command, Mongol, when Brainiac's benevolence left his home plane vulnerable to its own criminal element. According to the archives, when the criminal elements rose up and began seizing the planet from its lawful rulers, Mongol usurped Brainiac and became the planet's first military dictator.

Brainiac attacks Earth with the intent of scavenging the remains of Zod's terraforming machine; Superman fails to prevent the attack - Brainiac's forces are extremely zealous in their devotion to the deposed ruler, and strangely it seems that they're taking care to do as little damage as possible while taking the terraforming machine. Superman thus pulls back with the intent of following Brainiac to see what the ex-ruler plans.

On Earth, Lois draws the ire of KGBeast and his gang. So, KGBeast decides to make Lois disappear by offering her up to Mongol and his men.

Superman arrives to see Brainiac using the terraformer to seize a dying planet. The terraformer allows Brainiac to turn the planet into warworld. Brainiac, with his warworld, sets a course for Mongol with the intent of raining fire and death down on the usurper and the planet that, Brainiac believes, betrayed him.

Lois escapes her captors on Mongol's prison planet and uses her skills to drum up a resistance to Mongol. She argues that the usurper's privations will create more of the criminals that he sought to eradicate. Lois's resistance gets a look at what Mongol's been doing with the humans he obtained from KGBeast - they're being used as bioweapons, for the usurper admires the human propensity for cruelty, unpredictability, and the malleability of the human mind.

Superman is forced to intervene in the war between Mongol and Brainiac by battling Brainiac while Lois deals with Mongol by raising the oppressed against him.

Edit:

I was looking up Brainiac and saw that he was originally a ruler that lost his planet. It looked like an interesting angle to explore, one that you don't often hear in fanscripts. I decided to take that, and included Mongol for some parallels between the conflict between Batman and Superman in BvS.

Your idea for Man of Steel 3 is plausible and if planned out could be a good Superman story for screen.
I just hate that DC always is afraid to shy away from Luthor or Zod when it comes to a Superman film.

I'm open to a villain other than Brainiac for MOS 2. The most important thing is to get the characterization of Clark and Superman right. Picking the right creative team is more important than picking the particular villain.

I actually think Superman Earth One Volume 2 is a good template for a proper Man of Steel 2 with Parasite as the villain. Not beat for beat just as a general story template.

If I was just dropped down with the keys to the DCEU today, as much as I'd want to change up the Justice League to match my personal vision for the DCEU, it would probably be too late. My first step would then be to issue a mission statement of focusing on the unique aspects of each character and that all of our films should be different both tonally and thematically from each other. Next I would hire Shane Black to direct Zachary Levi and James Franco in a Blue Beetle/Booster Gold film, as well as greenlighting Justice League Dark/Shadowpact with Ewan McGregor as John Constantine. I'd then arrange for The Rogues to be the focus of The Flash solo venture, with James Roday and Dule Hill being reunited as Captain Cold and Heatwave. And to round out the day I'd greenlight a Martian Manhunter TV series following J'Onn living on Earth for centuries, each season a different human disguise and time period, all to tie in with an upcoming Martian Manhunter film starring David Oyelowo. And then I'd take a long nap and hope it wasn't all a dream.

I'd get Miguel Sapochink for something. Same for George Miller.

Superman has a few villains that would make for really good showdowns, both thematically and physically.

Me personally, I love the idea of Brainiac fielding Doomsday, which I think would be a much better fit than Luthor. Luthor can field Metallo, Bloodsport and Bizarro or even Parasite. Parasite would also be bomb paired with Bruno Manheim/Intergang. Livewire too, I think. Mongul and his parade of aliens on Warworld would be a blast (Lobo, Maxima, Massacre, GL species cameos, etc). Haven't even touched Manchester Black or any JLA villains that superman is capable of going toe to toe with on his own. Darkseid famously, but the Crime Syndiakte would be really epic.

Aquaman Plot=War Between Atlanteans and Humans
WW is a Prequel.
Shazam is a film about Bullying and standing up for yourself.
JL1 would have Darkseid as the villain(on the off chance that JL2 isnt made)
JL2 would have Steppenwolf(feels more accurate for some reason)
Flash is more or less action/comedy. Kinda like Ant-Man but with superspeed
GL is a massive level scale film. Like Guardians but takes itself more seriously.
Cyborg contains cameos and/or references to Teen Titans. Villain is Brother Blood

As far as the Batman solo goes, I would get Affleck and Geoff Johns off the project as director/writers.

"ZOMG! How can you say that about Affleck! He'll nail the script!"

Not really, no. I'm not really confident in Affleck understanding Batman after the way he defended BvS. For the most part he seems to not have had much problems with Snyder's vision, so I don't find him that trusting. That and Geoff Johns isn'tthe strongest Batman writer IMO.

As far as the other films go, I would make them more independent. They would still be in the same universe, but they wouldn't have that "everything is connected" thing Marvel has. That's kinda how DC was founded in the first place. It's also what would separate the DCEU creatively from the MCU.

Agreed. I'm not enamored with Affleck either. It's going to take more than him being the least awful thing in a terrible movie for me to believe WB made the right choice when they picked him.

He gave us a fine recreation BR's Batman, with some DKR peppered in. Isn't that the baseline for Batman in his more popular books?

Glad I'm not the only one who's been thinking that. I'm not as wary of him as you two, but his defense of Batman's characterization in DOJ does give me pause. I'd like to think he was just playing Hollywoodnl politics, but I doubt it.

Speaking of Affleck. I definitely wouldn't have him on Batman. I'd have maybe someone like Mark Webb.

I don't know if this late in the game DC is going to pull the reins back On Affleck.

Did he really do that bad ?

My biggest issue with him in DOJ... even more than Batman killing people and his ludicrous "I NEEEEED to kill Superman" plot... was just how dispassionate he seemed about it. I've said this a few times before in other threads, but Affleck just seemed like a guy showing up for work. I didn't see that fire or that intensity I saw in Christian Bale or Michael Keaton when they portrayed the character, except in maybe a couple scenes. I think they were trying to do the whole "world weary" thing with Bruce, but to me, he just seemed like he didn't give a crap about anything most of the time.

Now, to be fair to Affleck, that may have been Snyder's direction. Perhaps his Batman will really shine with a better director behind the camera who can pull a great performance out of him (like Ayer or himself). But right now, the jury's still out on him. I feel like a lot of the people who praised his performance were just won over by the great costume and a pretty good fight scene.

I would have dropped both cyborg and green lantern and just go with Superman, Batman, wonder wiman, flash, and Aquaman. Oh and suicide squad too. Given that if they are successful which I bet they will be, each one will probably have a couple sequels. 5 main heroes and suicide squad trilogies and you already have 18 movies plus justice league team ups which will eventually PROBABlY make it 21 movies. That's a ton.
With the rate of about 2 movies released each year this movie universe could easily last over 10 years. The characters would be so fleshed out cross crossing with appearances in each other movies. I think they'd eventually blow marvel out of the water, just in quality of stories and character depth if they didn't try to show so many heroes.

I don't want any visit to green arrow's house to meet his family cuz the dude needs some reason to be in the movie.

Any other character I wish they could get a deal with a quality station like Netflix, hobby, showtime to have a universe of lesser characters. If they could handle the budget maybe green lantern would be great as a series.

More than anything , do not resort to the marvel kid friendly, low stake stuff with quips from lead characters to extras. A joke here and there is fine. Just be brave, accept that you can't compete with a franchise more geared towards kids and adults. Just continue to make quality stories.

They need to open their eyes in terms of Justice League Dark

Also I think not going the live action route is a HUGE mistake.
DC can finally get the jump on Marvel venturing into the horror element of the comic universe and be original.

This whole shared universe can be a gold mine for DC with their horror characters.
So if DC gets bold and tries a twist to their shared universe idea with the horror themed characters that may open the flood gates further if its done right.
They could have a strong presence in the superhero & horror movie market all at once.

I never said he did bad. He's a fantastic batman. I just think it'd be too much stress on the guy to direct a film and star in it as the main character at the same time. Hence why he shouldnt be the director.

Call me crazy, but instead of focusing on solo films and subsequent sequels, I'd take advantage of the various ensembles of the DC universe.

Birds of Prey
Dark Universe
Justice League
New Gods
Suicide Squad
Teen Titans

With Justice League, I'd go long-term storytelling, ala Harry Potter. I'm talking 7-8 JL films. And you can have JL films that focus more on one specific character, making it a "solo film" of sorts for that character. For example, Tower of Babel would be a Batman-centric Justice League film. Flashpoint Paradox would be a Flash-centric Justice League film. And so forth and so on.
