With a few exceptions, movie based games, they're all just quick cash-ins that completely suck because the team didn't have enough time to work on them. Some of the exceptions would be ET because it closed the door on Atari and opened the one for Nintendo and games made without the movie's released date in mind, like Goldeneye.
As for what to revive, item collecting platformers, like Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64. Loved the N64 for those games, just spending hours upon hours trying to find everything in a level, really made me feel like I got my money's worth. Too many games now are $60 and take less than 10 hours to complete, hate that.
YAYYY!!!i knew there was a reason i liked you.![]()
Metal Gear Solid. Every fricken one of those games. Why? Where do I start?
Solid Snake is a rip-off of Snake Plissken, at least that's what the creator of MGS says. I hate cheap and obvious rip-offs.
Solid Snake has a mullet. Nuff said.
Too much cinema and not enough gameplay. And what little gameplay there is, is terrible.
The story is the most ******ed slammed together garbage I've ever seen. Giant robots? Check. Ninja cyborgs? Check. Fat guys on roller blades tossing bombs? Check. Every character having a name that only 10 year old kids think is cool but only come off as sophomoric. Big fat check.
In the cut scenes, the characters act way too over zealous. Tossing their hands in the air, point at everything as they talk, throwing their heads up and down for no apparent reason. It's weird, and goofy looking.
" ! " over peoples heads is not good gameplay. It is sloppy and lazy icon usage.
A MOVING BOX IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM PROBABLY HAS A GUY IN IT WITH A BAD HAIR CUT!
WTF is up with enemies popping up out of nowhere? They like come right out of the ground!
But the thing that bugs me the most is how people talk about it like somehow it's this amazing game that does anything different. " YOU HAD TO PLUGZ IN YOURZ CONTROLLER IN THE OTHER PORT TO FIGHT THE BAD GUY!!" Yeah, there've been a couple of other games if not dozens that have done that before, and if not exactly that something just as clever if not more so.
It takes a bunch of goofy anima type themes (giant robots, ninja robots) and mixes it up with espionage and expects me to take it seriously. It comes off as Tom Clancy for 10 year old kids just getting off Pokemon.
Oh, and the graphics have always sucked. Even 4 looks terrible when compared to games like Mass Effect, Gears, Bio-Shock and others.
I own a PS3 and part of me hates it just because I know that if I put in a MG game it will be able to play it.
So if I had my way Metal Gear would be wipped off the face of the planet. But the good news is we'd still have Snake Plissken.![]()
Have you ever actually played a MGS game with an open mind from start to finish?
From start to finish? No. I've played parts from all though. But why would I finish a carton of milk I know has gone bad after I've tasted it? And what do you mean by open minded? Being ok with things that are terrible? I think I've been more than fair to try other parts of the game even though everyone I've tried is so terrible. It's a goofy game that thinks it's more clever than it is. It just comes off as really sophomoric. Everything about it. If I had to sum it up in one word it'd be sophomoroic.
To be honest...Halo. I'm sorry, but I just cannot stand it. I've played 1&2 and thought they were mediocre FPS's. However I hear non stop talk about how Halo is the best gaming experience ever, how it's just perfection personified. If getting rid of Halo would mean I'd never have to hear it be overhyped again, I'd gladly do it. You'd think Masterchief himself stepped off the screen and saved someones cat, then gave them a BJ, while simultaneously giving them a million dollars for how some ppl talk about it.
As for what I'd revive? I'm going to cheat and say RPG, and 2D gaming, tho neither is completely dead yet. I think those two genres have suffered this gen due to rising production costs.....guess I should follow the op's question tho heh....a game....I'd revive Streets of Rage. There are better choices, and games I care for more, but I'd love a good smash em up, online co-op, current gen Streets of Rage side scroller.
lol...that is all.
I remember reading a review that said the minigame you play while waiting for the game to load was more fun than the game itself.![]()
I think I made some good points about why the game sucks. You didn't even try to refute any...
Maybe my points were too well made.![]()
