I know many sites and critics release their best-of-the-year lists every year around this time but I just don’t care about any of them and simply head to IGN.com to see what movies, TV series, Comics, Games etc they have named the the year's best. Their lists rule big time and you can't top them cause these guys are pros and geeks at the same time! And more importantly, they know better than anybody that when it comes to animated series, the spectacular Spider-man is the best there is!

Also, Spidey and GG were among the nominees for the Best Hero and Best Villain of the Year categories respectively!

Great to hear! I think they named TSSM the best cartoon last year and Spidey the best hero, too.

Nice to hear that, and i hope all the good word that TSSM keeps on getting all the time is getting to disney folks so when/if the decision is decided for TSSM we fans get more like we want.

You are right! TSSM has been crowned the best animated series for the second consecutive year and won last years' Best Hero of the Year too!

Some sort of positive buzz is good. IGN does have some pull in the geek circles, or at least enough that Marvel quotes their reviews on the covers of some comics, like NOVA.

It also was nominated for an ANNIE, albeit in a very technical category.

An Emmy nod would have been better. What, was FAMILY GUY really that good this year? :p

With every month that goes by, it gets harder and harder to stay positive about renewals. But who knows.

I've mentioned SSM in a few of my comic news articles at Examiner.com, but they usually only average about 30-50 hits per, so...:o

yea all we can hope as fans is the call we want will happen.

it is always good to read anything by you Dread.
and i totally agree with you on Family Guy

The fate of SSM has been out of Sony's hands and back to Marvel since Sept. 2009. The deal with Disney will be "officially" voted upon on Dec. 31st by Marvel's shareholders and by then the ratings for Season 2 of SSM will be fully known or should be, and by early 2010 we should hear if the show is renewed. Although if not, that may not be admitted, either. Very few cartoon shows are admitted to be canceled; to this day, Kid's WB's official statement was that X-MEN EVOLUTION was on "hiatus" and they did not order more episodes.

Objectively, rehiring known talent to work on a new season of a pre-existing show has to be faster and more cost-effective than doing a whole new show from the bottom up, which we know Marvel/Disney would want to do between 2011-2013 anyway. Spider-Man has averaged a new cartoon show every 1-5 years since 1998, when the 90's show wrapped after 65 episodes across 5 seasons. Disney XD still re-airs that show, FYI. Disney may want their "own" production team for a new show, rather than work with ex-Sony hires, or they may want an "older" Spidey.

Hopefully, though, the critical buzz for SSM is not ignored. Disney has employed Greg Wiesman for a number of shows before. He'll be writing an issue of ASM as well soon, so it isn't like he is unknown at Marvel. If anything, the production delay between seasons will ENSURE that SSM returns in 2011-2012, when whatever hype that exists for SPIDER-MAN 4 will be at an apex. Just because Marvel & Disney may not see direct profit from Sony's film series does not mean they won't still try to capitalize on it.

Still, it usually takes 12-18 months to see finished animation return overseas, and that is after needing time to write & record episodes. If Marvel/Disney wants SSM Season 3 by 2011, they have to agree to it rather soon. If not yesterday. And then hope a year wait between originally episodes doesn't shrink DISNEY XD's audience for it.

i am sure that if Disney XD sticks with the show and if the third season debuts in the US first, the ratings will be off the charts.
the biggest blow to TSSM was rendered by the fact the second season was first aired in Europe.

Hey, come on, I was happy when I saw season 2 episodes airing in my country first. Of course, it makes no sense, but atleast they didnt air the finale here - so I think that blow was not so big. Plus, the eps aired here were available only in bulgarian trackers, so its not like it has big, if any, impact on the show.

i didnt mean your country, but let's be honest with ourselves, alot of people here including you and I watched the show on the net ( of courese i bought all the season 1 DVDs when i travelled to Dubai). there is no denying that alot of fans had already seen the second season before it debuted in the US

Okay...I don't care what any of you say. THEY'VE GOT TO RENEW the show now!! THERE'D BE NO EXCUSE TO CANCEL THE SHOW EXCEPT PURE INSANITY. Come Dec. 31st.. or after we need to get the news of that RENEWAL!

@Persian - true, I was watching it online, but I watched it every Saturday and Sunday too - not that this counts for something, but still...

@venomfangs - Of course they better renew the show. Its the best, hands down. I've watched the 2 seasons so many times, I'm almost tired of them.

It's great to see the show get some recognition.really Disney baffles me.This show is critically acclaimed and a moneymaker. The calender is already sold out on Marvelshop.com and I was at Toys R us yesterday and the figures were selling more then any other figures in the marvel section. It'd be plain stupid to cancel the show.

totally we can all sigh a big relief once we do have a renewel. Though the only thing that would suck is we will more then likely have to wait to early 2011 for it to air. Though def want it to air in US/north america first this time around. No offense to you non north american fans.

Season 2 DID debut in North America... just not the right half of it.

It's the same where I live. I have no doubt that TSSM is by far the best-selling Marvel toy series right now. Of course, it still doesn't hurt to help. I've been buying some random toys and other merch I can find and donating it to charity.

Anyway, he's saying that if and when a new season starts, that it should at least start in the US first alongside Canada and other countries.

yea that is what i meant first US, then canada, then etc.... places.

yea but it seems in TSSM case the ratings they care about more is from the US viewers unlike the wolverine show which also aired first in canada and was renewed before it even aired states side.

It's funny because Wolverine and the X-men got renewed but Hasbro "Has no future plans" for the toyline which must mean it wasn't performing at the level they wanted to.By the way if you guys want to support the show and support a good cause why not buy a Spectacular Spidey toy and donate to Toys for tots? You'd be supporting Spidey as well as lighting a child's Christmas.

For all the knocking about the debut in Canada, SSM is actually very hot in Canada; I hear Teletoon/YTV gets solid ratings for it. International support helped W&TXM, and I am curious if the fact that it gets Canadian play will help any. Canada is Region 1, DVD wise.

Donating toys is a nice suggestion.
