yeah, the Wachowski's are the new kings of action as far as i'm concerned. they're pretty good story tellers as well.
not really. for one, Neo was born into his destiny and had to find a way to break out of it, while Goku was practically in control of his since he was able to walk. two, i can actually believe Keanu could kick someone's ash while i don't feel the same for Chatwin. yeah they have similarities (monotone speech, able to do superhuman feats, black hair, etc.) but i wouldn't say that they're a LOT a like. maybe a LITTLE a like.Would it be fair to say that Goku in the DB film is a lot like Neo in The Matrix?
I think it's funny that if you removed the dragonballs from the posters, there would be absolutely nothing left of DragonBall.

regardless, i think the Wachowski's would've done their homework and realized that Goku isn't supposed to be like Neo.
which is negated by the fact that he wasn't truly 'the one' but rather ONE of 'the ones' and that this process had been going on for centuries. just because he chose the right pill doesn't mean he wouldn't or couldn't have eventually found his way out of the Matrix. They both had a choice. Neo knew full well what he was getting into, but pursued it anyway.
okay, what about movie Goku and movie Speed Racer? they're not exactly that much a like, yet the Wachowski's were able to bring Speedy to the big screen as a believable character. Both are unsure of themselves. Both have some latent power.
no and i never said anything like that. i said that i could believe that Keanu could kick someone's @$$. i never said that he actually could. i know that the Matrix was his first exposure to martial arts choreography. You believed Keanu could be a fighter prior to The Matrix?
please don't ASSume that you know me.You're in the minority.

great points Dorky, I couldn't agree with you more that they will indeed make a good stylized Dragonball movie...
I loved Speed Racer, I though it had heart, and it was very unique, it's like Speed
Racer is it's own entity but the majority didn't want to accept this entity
I also loved Speed Racer, and it's quickly becoming a cult favorite. Unfortunately though, it was panned by critics and no-one went to see it, so in a way Fox is kind of justified for taking a step back with Dragonball and making it more reality-grounded. However, as you can tell from the trailer this is hardly "realism." The DB movie still looks like it's got a lot of fantasy going on within its world, and it looks a lot more colorful than most blockbusters that are out these days. It's a compromise, and hopefully it's one that will work out for the better.
No, they would have used both, because they each have a separate purpose for different lighting environments.ever heard of ''blue screen'' ?
they used it on DB sets![]()
Only complete morons with racist undertones care what race Goku is.Oh snap doesnt this end the age old question on what race Goku is? I mean if the creator wanted him to be Asian I am sorry but that in itself is preety telling but then again he did want an all Asian cast. I cant imagine he will be pleased with the end result.
I think making DBE into a more reality-based movie is a terrible idea. Dragonball was originally conceived with ideas from both the Chinese literature Journey to the West and Superman, among others, so I think straying from its fantasy roots is a bad decision.

They could make him black, who cares? He's not even human, so it doesn't matter about his skin colour, and as for heritage, he's obviously had an Asian upbringing via Gohan.
Its more like peoples interpretation, I think the "morons" are the people who think people wont view Goku's ethnicity as Asian. Just look at the theme of Dragonball it bascilly screams Asian culture, not only that but the story was inspired by journey to the west and the character Goku is based on the monkey king. Oh no what morons I mean this manga seems asian themed so we logically assume the main character is Asian.
