In The Multiverse Of Madness Spoiler Discussion Thread

It sounds like this movie is basically going to serve as the gateway to the introduction of Foxverse into MCU. If we're getting Prof X, Wolverine, and Reed, that's the open floodgate.

Ok, there's a rumor that's going around that's driving me nuts that I really don't get the logic behind:

supposedly the reason the Illuminati have put Strange on trial is because of the events of Avengers Endgame, aka him using the time stone to see the "one way" to beat Thanos. That makes absolutely no sense. That shouldn't affect the multiverse in general (Loki's variant aside) so what, did the Illuminati just want the main universe to take losing half of all life in the ass and not undo it or something? This doesn't make sense at all! Having it be the botched spell from No Way Home makes more logical sense because that DID wreak havoc on the multiverse!

Originally this movie was supposed to come out before Spider-Man No Way Home, which is why there is concept art for NWH with America Chavez in a major role. They had to cut her out when MOM got delayed to come out after NWH. So I am wondering if that rumor is from an earlier version of the script.

Possibly. A lot of the weird rumors seem to be from that.

I'm thinking it might have something to do with Strange offering Thanos the Time Stone in exchange for sparing Stark's life during IW.

I recall Ancient One telling Stark that she might have made "the wrong choice" with Strange when she found out about this during Endgame.

That's not accurate, so rest assure. He's not put on trail for that reason, there's a lot more to it and the real reason is explained in the movie. That line in the trailer "we should tell him the truth" is when it's explained

Been thinking it over and I feel like the Illuminati here will be a lot like it is in the comics. With each member bringing a unique perspective but molded to fit the MCU.

Professor X: Mutants - Represents an oppressed community and the future of the MCU
Mordo: Magic - Represents mysticism and bending the laws of nature
Maria Rambeau: Cosmic - Represents an intergalactic view that doesn't center Earth
Reed Richards: Science - Represents technological advancement and intellect
Captain Carter: S.H.I.E.L.D. - Represents that Avengers-type hero that collaborates with the government and military
Peter Parker: Everyman - Represents the daily grind of the average Joe

The last one definitely feels like wishful thinking, but I could see Raimi embracing the opportunity to revisit his Spider-Man while also bridging the gap between the Sony and Fox universes.

Nah Bruh, the everyman character on the council is just going to be Bruce Campbell. We know he's getting a cameo somewhere.

I don't believe you have to use spoiler tags in this thread?

does anyone know if Peter Hooten or Clyde Kusatsu (who played Strange and Wong in that Dr. Strange 1978 TV film) are going to have any sort of cameo appearance?

Especially since this is the multiverse - it'd be fun to see them. (Same for David Hasselhoff as alt universe Nick Fury).

Personally, I don't feel that the "inciting incident" that sets up the events of the movie should be something that happened in an earlier movie to begin with (whether it be Endgame or NWH). It should be something that happens in THIS movie.

It should be like Captain America Civil War where past events are referenced (Ross calling the Avengers out on all the collateral damage from their third act battles in previous MCU movies) but the beginning of the movie has something happen that was the final straw (Wanda accidentally blowing up the Wakanda embassy in Lagos at the beginning of the movie)

Is possible that the inciting incident is connected to Strange messing with time in the last film. “The Bill Always Comes Due”.

He does, it's just not in the council.

But what if it WAS. :hehe: But yeah, I know he won't be there for all sorts of reasons, but it it certainly would be a funny moment to use it. Not entirely appropriate to the movie, but entertaining.

I was hoping since it's at least had its Berlin premier that more spoilers would start to trickle out.

My big question has always been the same.
How does the movie start?
When Wong talks of Strange opening a doorway, Is that a direct reference to NWH?
Or does Stephen do something in this film to make matters even WORSE?

The answer to the first question you can find 14 seconds in from the first trailer.

The second question, well it depends on which Strange and which universe. Stephen doesn't necessarily, but the impact of NWH is referenced.

new trailer. best one yet
