When the movie was first announced, I actually thought the title was in reference to At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft. Given that Scott Derrickson was originally set to direct, I wouldn't be surprised if that was indeed the case.

I also think that was the case and probably why he left

On the subject of Daniel Craig, I'm so glad his MCU castings hasn't worked out just yet. I still have him on my wishlist for:

While he loved Bond... he was pretty apathetic towards having to devote a lot of time/effort into them after the whole QoS injury and writer's strike.

He's not being pushed as much with the Knives Out franchise. Can't see him picking up a MCU thing.

Maybe if Reeves got him for just one Batman film.

Agreed. I could see him being up for a one and done interesting role, but not long term commitment after he seemed to feel weighed down by Bond over the last few years.

Doctor Strange references Spider-Man but I was sure that the spell he cast at the end of NWH resulted in everyone - even Strange himself - forgetting Spider-Man? Did I get this wrong? It feels a little less traumatic now knowing at least Doctor Strange remembers Peter... and presumably he's told Wong as he mentions it in his presence.

Nah, I think everyone forgot Peter Parker. Everyone still remembers Spiderman being Spiderman. DS probably remembers also fighting with him together on Titan

Finally saw MoM yesterday. Eh. One of the lower tier mcu offerings, IMO. Had some cool parts and some cool cameos (social media spoiled Reed for me but not the others), but the story wasn't that good and Wanda going full villain wasn't handled well to me. Ah well.

I saw it on Sunday finally. It was okay. Though I had my share of issues it was decently entertaining. A couple of scenes stood out not because they were well made but were borrowed heavily from other movies. Particularly the scene when Scarlet Witch climbed out of the wall (?) was very, very close to the modern Japanese classic horror film The Ring in which the girl climbed out of the TV. The white scene with Pro X attempting to pull out of Wanda felt also very familiar just couldn’t put my finger on it yet.

7.5/10 for me.

Yeah....that scene just screamed The Ring.

There were definitely some pacing issues, but I really liked it. I also think the reason a LOT of people didn't like it that much was that a popular character basically went bat s*** crazy. At the same time, I think a lot of people liked that angle. The bottom line is that you really can't please all the people, all the time. There would have been a revolt by some if Wanda had been handled in a way that made her more, ummmm, sympathic??? not sure that's quite the right word.

So people complain about Marvel doing the same old and when they don't, others don't like it. Not saying that's necessarily you, but it happens one way or the other.

For me, this movie scratched a DS itch I had and I think was a good portrayal of him. I think they'll move on in the next movie and have him facing off with a more traditional baddie. I completely disagree with people who say this was more of a Scarlett Witch movie than a DS one.

My understanding was that everyone would forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. My issue with the scene in Doctor Strange is that it almost seems like he remembered everything that happened in No Way Home.

Like how does the spell work? How much does Doctor Strange forget about messing with reality in No Way Home?

I think The Batman is the better movie overall but I had more fun watching DS2. I can see myself watching this movie multiple times once it hits Disney+, whereas I don’t think The Batman has that kind of rewatch value (at least for me). I definitely need to be in a certain mood to watch that movie (though I will watch certain clips of it on YouTube multiple times).

I quite enjoyed this movie. There were definitely some narrative decisions that I was on the fence about, but overall I walked out of the movie content. I think my expectations were more in check than some, so that might contribute to it as well. Sam Raimi was a breath of fresh air in the MCU imo. If anything, he was held back by a script that needed more polish.

Yeah I loved this as well. It's one of those movies where I walked out if the cinema already looking forward to seeing it again. Raimi brought his A game for this for sure. Some absolutely glorious moments and Wanda going nuts was both heartbreaking and stunning at the same time.
