If you had to pick one spiderman for costume and one spiderman for story, which ones would you pick? I'm really curious to see what you guys think.

For costume, I think simple is better. If Peter Parker could barely sew, I think he should dress like he can't. For this reason, I like these two spidermen equally.

In this costume from Daniel heard (http://danielheard.squarespace.com/blog/2010/2/28/spider-man-movie-reboot-costume-concept.html) , Spidey could have made this suit in under 500$. That is the amount he got from wrestling.

The second, which is even more realistic is the mangaverse costume.

This is the best, because all you need is a mask, spandex shirt, and gloves. You can actually wear jeans, and make this work.

Not sure I understand the question, but I think my favorite Spider-Man would be the animated TSSM one. Of course, I like all of the different interpretations, but TSSM one is my favorite cause he gets to have more fun beating up bad guys. And that show is what got me into Spider-Man to begin with.

For story, I love the Ultimate Spiderman series. The story is much better for explaining Peter Parker. It's easy to poke holes in the Amazing Universe. How Spidey got his costume, how Peter made the web shooters, and how the goblin thing worked were all decently explained. The only issue I have was with the concept of Peter receiving his powers. I think that the only way it's possible is to have a retrovirus mutate his cells. The Ultimate fails in that reguard. The spider was given a drug that increased the skills of the spider. Even if the drug was strong and it was transfered through the spider, it would have worn off. Other wise, everything about Peter Parker said teenager. The dialogue was much better, the art is superb, and the scientific explanations make much more sense. All in all Ultimate is the best.

Also, nice to meet you Gwendolyn Stacy! I do agree that Spectacular is one of the most fun. His Quips are the best of all of them.

I've heard the retrovirus argument before and I agree, I hope they do something like that with the next movie. As for my favorites I like the Ultimate suit the best. Spectacular Spider-Man is my favorite story though.

I take it you've seen spiderman tech? That's was a good documentary. As for the questions Mrs. Stacy, they're which costume looks the best and which story is the best.

What do you guys think of the symbiote suit? Which is best: the alien parasite, or the bioengineered organism?

Yeah it was good, if you enjoyed that you might want to check out the psychology of batman, another good one. For me it's the alien all the way. I mean I can understand why people like the suit to be engineered by Pete's dad, everyone loves a legacy, but I don't see how it would do anything that the symbiote does in the comics except maybe the personality changes. But if it's supposed to cure cancer, why does it feed of the host? That seems like the exact opposite of it's goal.

I definitely like the second one better, but nothing compares to classic Spidey. Visual or story. Nothing needs to be altered IMO.

But the suit I want to see on the big screen is the classic simple spandex look. I love the cover for Edge of Time.

This should be on film! Look at the shoddy stitchwork that Peter would no doubt produce. The blood on the mask, the rips in the fabric. Beautiful. I'm no tailer, but surely they could replicate something like this.:hrt:

In that case, it would be the Amazing one since I have not read Ultimate or anything outisde of Amazing, haha. By the way, Mrs. Stacy would mean I'm married, which I'm not, lol.

The best SpiderMan in my opinion is .... Ben Reilly. Or rather he was, 'cause he's dead. Poor guy, I miss him.
See I always liked Spidey, he was cool, had a lot of powers, was original (Like Nova once said : "I can fly and I'm strong, regular powers. SpiderMan is really something else.") Then there was a period when Spidey seemed to get less and less impressive. I mean, he is one of the fastest heroes in the Marvel universe, and he has the spider-sense,and awesome reflexes, and the Punisher can punch him ... Or in one issue he punches the Rhino unconscious and then DocOck arrives and Spidey punches him once, twice .... X times and Doc is all like "Mouahahaha I'm bad! You can't beat me!" I never understood why Spidey needed to punch or kick bad guys like DocOck and Electro so many times when he was strong enough to trow cars around.
And then Ben appeared. The ScarletSpider. The costume was just plain awesome. Simple and practical, I loved the torn teeshirt and that the spider on it wasn't ... how to say it ... like the old Spidey's, see? It was like crawling to the side and not pointing to his head. And the new gadgets! The exploding ball of fluid, the sedative darts, the utility belt ... it was so refreshing! And the stories where great. You could love the guy so much. The intrigues with Kaine, his relationship with the New Warriors, and then Peter stops being SpiderMan, gives the title to Ben, and leaves for Portland to start a new life as a father. Things should have stayed that way, Ben was a better SpiderMan than Peter ever was in my opinion. Peter and Mary-Jane should have lived happy with their daughter, there was such a great story going on here. But Marvel didn't have the guts to keep going on and see what could happen. Too many readers didn't like the change, so we went back to the same old stories all over again. Ben was great. I wanna see what could have happened if he had stayed. I don't like the "What if" stories Marvel used to make but I want to see that one.

And for **** sake, Ben love interests were a gothic photographer and a crazy runaway who killed her abusive father! Don't tell me we couldn't do something good with that XD
Jessica, Elizabeth , I miss you too ...

The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe did an outstanding job explaining Spider mans powers and equipment. it also points out that the spider that bit Peter had already been mutated from prior radiation exposure and the irradiated venom acted as a mutagenic biochemical that created numerous body-wide changes in Peter's physiology. That works better than a retrovirus from the standpoint of inheriting powers from a spider, IMO.

His traditional look will always be best, preferably with large lenses (though not taking up 2/3 of the mask), mandibles on the symbol and pit-webs.
