^^ Yes I can see where those black bars can be a distraction on a 13-inch set.

Still when I had a tiny set, I stuck with widescreen and squinched alot. :woot:

but as widescreen TVs are becoming more and more the norm now, so i see teh full screen versions dying out eventually also, just like the VHS. There was a market for it when all the TVs were still boxes. those tvs are weaning out, so will full screens.

I'm a little shocked that Wal-Mart carried a fullscreen edition for TIH. I know that the choice is up to the consumer but why cheat yourself with fullscreen?

Why are studios still making these?

Many consumers are idiots. :wow:

Very true, but this isn't like Beta or HD-DVD's. So long as fullscreen TV's are still in use, there are still people who will use fullscreen format DVD's. For now, widescreen TV's are luxuries, like Blu-Ray players. They may be slowly becoming the standard, but it's a gradual process.

Plus, there's also the crowd that's become way too used to it. I may not like it, but some folks don't like to watch movies that aren't cropped.

Exactly. With widescreen, you see a lot more. When you think about it, widescreen is the original ratio, in which a movie was shot. I think it makes sense to watch a movie in its original format. I never liked full-screen cause it makes it look like a bit of a person's head got cut off. Half the time, your not really seeing much of anything in a scene.

A lot of the story is lost. There was a segment- I believe on AMC- where Martin Scorsese was talking about how much of it was lost, and as an example they showed footage from a musical where you couldn't even tell that there was someone in the background singing and going about her business. Fullscreen drastically alters the viewer's perception, which is a shame since it can also impact the viewer's opinion on the film.

EDIT: Here we go...

I can't judge anyone's financial situation as to why one hasn't tech'ed-up but it's still criminal to purchase a film this epic and not be able to get the full spectacle of what it conveys because it's a fullscreen version.

This reminds me of a friend of mine that is so complacent with VHS, that by the time he wakes up to the DVD world, even blu-ray will have taken a backseat to something new.

He even had the audacity to ask a sales rep at Best Buy if they had TIH on tape. Stone age lazy! :funny:

Has anyone transfered their Incredible Hulk digital copy of the movie over to Itunes yet? I did & for some reason it keeps speeding up & slowing down, anyone know what could be the problem? I also transfered it to my Ipod, but on there when you put it in either widescreen or fullscreen mode it crops off the sides of the picture no matter which setting you have it on.

man that's so sad to watch. so much is still, you don't even realize it. i love the last supper analogy. i mean the main character is there in the center, but so much of it lost. i hope more people embrace wide-screens.

Yeah, I've recently taken to using the newer designations of "wisescreen" and "foolscreen". :D

So, if it sold around two million copies in its first day, how much do you think it´s gonna sell first week? Three million, more?

I wanted to pick up this DVD but the cover and the box just doesn't do it for me. Had it received a little bit of extra treatment (at least a slip cover or something) I may have picked it up.

If that's what's holdin you back, that is really dumb.

Huh? They do have slip covers with an embossed picture. What more extra treatment were you looking for? Surely you're not practicing the old adage about judging the book by its cover?

We won't get them until next Monday-ish. We should be getting The-Numbers' estimates from IJ4's first week today (or at least soon).

I had the same problems with the included digital copy, so I ripped the DVD.
