I'm pretty sure the actions of the mother could be considered child abuse.
I think Sharia calls for due process in such cases, even if some Muslims don't beieve so.
It's in Indonesia, so meh.
I keep picturing Baby Herman from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"...
I'm pretty sure the actions of the mother could be considered child abuse.
Whatever that process may be, there are many parts of Sharia that make men far better off than women; one that comes to mind is that a man's testimony is worth twice that of a woman's.
The 26 year old mother has been trying to get him to stop!?!?! He's two freaking years old! If you want him to stop, quit giving them to him!
Which certainly sucks for them, but that's their culture and society and while it may seem backwards from our POV, it's the way that they chose to live and it doesn't harm them, so who are we to judge?
Maybe if it were in this part of the world, but I doubt child welfare is a big issue over there.
It's no different than taking a toy away. Yeah, the kid is going to be upset and throw a tantrum...but he'll get over it. You're the parent, act like one. You know? The funny thing is that the mother claimed the tot would band his head against the walls and injure himself if he wasn't given the cigarettes, but by letting her son have his 40-cigarette a day habit she's condemning him to die by lung cancer anyway. I'd say just let the kid suffer head injury instead; it'll do him good in the long run.
You know cigarettes don't instantly mean death by lung cancer, right?

I'd be equally worried about emphysema, really. That kid's lungs are literally going to start eating themselves before too long, certainly at a relatively young age.but a freaking 2 year old smoking 2 packs a day, it would be an act of god for him NOT to get lung cancer. So yea, she pretty much is condeming him

That's funny way of looking at inequality; wasn't that one of the rationales for segregation?![]()
While that may be true, that still doesn't make it acceptable in any way.
...it does significantly increase your risk though.

And binge eating on Big Macs all day long won't give your heart attack right away, but it will certainly heighten your risk for cardiac arrest, not to mention obseity and other health risks.
It might not, but it's a waste of time getting your panties in a twist over something that you can't control in a place thousands of miles away where it's not illegal. You're not going to change things.
I highly doubt anyone is 'getting their panties in a twist' over this. It was something that was pulled from the headlines and had a thread created on it for discussion...and we're discussing it.![]()
