I hardly consider Burton's film a "relaunch". You do know the 66 movie was made for TV, right? Right along side the show.
Yes, you do have a point. Batman '89 wasn't so much a relaunch, but the '66 film is still the first full-length cinematic production.
The only point I was trying to make was that "re-boots" or whatever you want to call them seem to work in patterns, in that they occur every new generation, for a fresh, new set of fans. That time frame seems to consist of 15 to 25 year spans, or even more. That's all.
