This "everything needs to be connected" thing is getting annoying.

I still hope they turn this into a standalone game, and start X-Men from scratch.

Why wouldn't they set them in the same universe, especially if it's from the same developer? It's not like this is going to be a Spider-Man spinoff, probably just a couple of references but that's how Marvel's been from the beginning.

I'm fine with them being in the same universe. Even a cross-cameo or two between the games would be fine. Wolverine and Spider-Man do have some team up history in the comics afterall.

What I don't want them to do a mashup just for the sake of doing a mashup though. If there's a good, compelling reason to do Deadpool Spider-Man & Wolverine, then I'd be all for that.

As long as they don't go crazy with the crossovers, being in the same universe as Spider-Man doesn't hurt anything. Imo.

I dont think them being same universe will be very meaningful to either series. Just easter eggs and maybe a cameo or two. Like maybe Wolverine fights Taskmaster or something

Day one purchase and one of my most anticipated games next year. This looks ****ing awesome. Insomniac crushing it. Loved the Spidey games and can’t wait to experience this now with Wolverine.

You'll need a PC with a jet engine to run this.

I built a new PC like two months ago with an RTX 5080 so I'll be fine.

I'm more worried about how the port will turn out... All of Insomniac's ports via Nixxes have been great except for SM2 (though it's in good shape now I believe).

Maybe you're right, but I'd still say all three are great.

Wolverine is also a totally different game, lets not forget a they dropped a Ratched and Clank in-between Spiderman games too, which was also universally praised.

Not to be that person, but being that person, I've seen like 4 different version of the script and they all seem to be written by Simon Kinberg. Awful.

I'm sure it's going to be a good game, not sure about the story. Which makes me hope this is a standalone thing.


Edit: by the way, I think SM2 is pretty great, but indeed feels a little rushed and definitely not as great as SM1.

Yeah, I am not sure how I feel about Mister Sinister being behind Wolverine's origins, and Jean Grey being a former teen runaway who tags along with Logan for most of the game.

I don't know why, but when it comes to videogames, I give a lot of leeway to this kind of drastic lore changes. If it was a movie, I would've screamed my lungs out.

Sinister behind Weapon X I can see it being retconned in the comics, but Jean taking on the same role Rogue had in the first X-Men movie, hard to swallow.

From what I read, it's not Jean taking Rogue's role. It's more taking Storm's in a way, since she's with the Morlocks. And in some versions of the script she even has some leadership conflicts with Calisto. And at the end it's implied she also takes Xavier's role being the one who creates the X-Men.

Those characters are not just their personalities. They're also their stories. And to mention Spider-Verse movies, there are cannonic events. Jean portrayed as a Morlock instead of one of Xavier's first student is a choice.

Not to mention what Logan takes from Cyclops and Gambit.

I mean, Logan is a solo hero. He has a very rich story. They didn't have to take from other characters.

I love that like gta 6, the graphics are very detailed, but intentionally not “photorealistic”. The details are realistic, but everything looks exaggerated.
