Hi all, I don’t know if this has been posted and I am sorry if this isn’t the place for it, but I think there is a very natural way of introducing Daredevil into the MCU proper while still giving the Netflix show it’s love. The premise is exactly what they did in the comics. Take DD to San Francisco. Through this you can keep Charlie Cox as Daredevil yet strip away all of the Netflix baggage. In a way it is rebooting the character, however similar to Spider-Man they don’t need to fully reintroduce him to the public at large. At this point there has been a semi-successful movie and a wildly successful show about him. All they would need to do is just touch on his powers and go on from there. I think Mark Waid’s run with DD would work wonderfully in the current MCU. It is a much more lighthearted take on DD than nearly all of the beloved takes on him. While yes, we would be losing some of what we love about the Netflix series, I would take the loss of mature tone to keep Cox. What are your thoughts?

The public at large probably doesn't keep up with all MCU-related content compared to the hardcore and wouldn't be familiar with Cox since they'd mostly watch the films. Plus Daredevil's comic history isn't as generally known compared to say Spider-Man or someone like Batman, so you'd have to start from the ground-up.

Much as I'm sure many would love to see Cox return, there's no indicating one way or another whether that will happen, especially if, going by your post, you're asking him to play a completely different version of the character compared to the one from the Netflix series.

I think you have to make a choice: Either embrace the Netflix character along with the 'baggage' or start fresh.

Sure you could spice things up by sending him to San Fran, but if you keep Cox, I think you're basically saying "we like and we're keeping the character defined by the Netflix series."

There's no need to move to San Francisco or switch to a lighter tone.

Just have Charlie Cox play Daredevil and he can show up in an MCU film (e.g. Spider-Man 3) as an established hero who clearly has a history with New York's criminal underworld.

No need for the plot to rely on the audience remembering the Netflix show but no need to make it non-canon either.

If they can throw Black Panther and Spider-Man into Civil War without giving us an origin story first they can do the same thing with Daredevil.
