Thanks to Joyce at the Iron Man myspace group for finding this. There's new quotes from Fav & Shane Mahan on how the armor works. Pretty cool!

The Iron Man movie, based on the long-running comic book and starring Robert Downey Jr., doesn't arrive until May, but fans are already abuzz about the flashes of Tony Stark's armor that have surfaced in film teasers. We talked to director Jon Favreau and effects supervisor Shane Mahan, from Stan Winston Studio (of Terminator and Jurassic Park fame), which constructed the armor used in the movie. They gave us the inside scoop on the design of Iron Man's Mark III suit. --DOUGLAS WOLK

that's pretty cool!!

but, no uni-beam??? I always thought that's what the Chest area was for???

He didn't say there wasn't a Uni-Beam. If I were Fav, I'd have held that one out as a suprise(for the uninitiated at least) anyway.

I love Rolling Stone! I LOVE IRON MAN!

"What's fun for me as a filmmaker is that you can cut inside the helmet and see what he's looking at."

oh hell yes, i was hoping for a scene like this

favs delivers yet again

So from a logical standpoint, why would you make your most vulnerable spot stand out the most

This flick had damn well better get a best costume design nom at the Oscars.

Good lord this looks like it is going to be an awesome movie! I cannot freaking wait!

Agreed, that doesn't make sense at all. It's like wearing a big bullseye on yor chest. Other than that, the explanations for everything else are cool.

Because if Favreau deviated from the original in any fashion, fanboys would eat his plump carcass.

Great read! Thanks for sharing that kedrell.:yay:

Looks like a LOT of thought went into the making of the suit.

Wish we had more views from inside the helmet.

Great stuff and good insight on the research and detail put into making the armour.
