Ironman being released on December 31,2010?

I bet they are going to make this movie a lot sooner, and then it'll be rushed, and will suffer from the mediocrity that plagued Daredevil, Elektra, and Fantastic Four. Here's to that not happening. Iron Man has a lot of potential. I want to see him kineticized.

I agree, Summer 2008 seems the most ovious release date as of right now, they will most likely start filming in 2007 but it will definently not be released in '07.

I wouldnt count on this. It's going to take some doing to get IM to rock. And marvel has been getting lazy and not investing the way they should in certain projects cough coughfantasticfourdaredevilelektracough hack.

Hulk wasnt bad. And it wasn't the fault of Marvel that it flopped. It was that Ang Lee doesn't make American crap, so Americans didnt like it so much because they expected Hulk to be all American-ish.

The trouble with Iron Man is the alcoholism. It's not a hot topic, and many people either don't want to see it on the big screen with their super heroes or will have an attitude of "oh, poor little rich guy.... get over yourself." That makes the script 10 times as difficult to navigate as Spider-Man and the acting choice for the lead 10 times as important.

Also, the studio will be concerned about it being more of a drama about alcoholism and not an action picture where they can sell a bunch of toys. It will be a tough balancing act and not an easy script to pull off.

Look for studio heads to pull the alcoholism if the script isn't an A+.

Marvel did just that a couple of years ago when they released X2 and the Hulk just a few weeks apart. I know they were from different studios but I'm sure Marvel would've had some say if they were concerned about the release dates being so close together.

The alcoholism issue is tired. Iron Man could be made sober on screen and it wouldn't change a bit.

If there's one franchise that Marvel has its bongo stuck in the zipper and couldn't pull it back - that would be Iron Man. IM is not as tough to work out as Cap America (fear of jingoism) or Thor (Fantasy-LOTR like), yet Marvel couldn't seem to make it.
