War Zone Box Office Thread

gaahh people keeps quoting other people I have on ignore! :waa:

Blade 2 was not a grindhouse movie. It was a well thought out sequel to its predecessor.
Unlike Punisher's disappointing '04 attempt, which played a huge part in PWZ bombing, at least Blade 2 rode off of the steam of it's successful 1998 film which was number 1 at the box office 2 weeks in a row.

I hate that PWZ couldn't have had a similiar success...

I know it wasn't a grindhouse movie, but it was truer to that tone than War Zone was.

And it's better than the 1998 movie. it didn't just ride off the steam, it significantly improved on Blade in every way.

War Zone wasn't good on any level - noone would have cared one way or the other, and those that did see it were vastly disappointed. Excepting the 13 year olds that post on here.

you're crazy, blade 2 was definitely not better than the original. the first one was easily the best one out of the three.

although it may have been dissapointing, war zone was good on plenty of levels (stevenson, frank's origin, the violence). and no, i'm not 13, i'm actually twice that age. i must ask, why are you always speaking for everybody? stop generalizing and saying **** like "noone cared" cuz your silly little opinion is not fact. there's plenty of us who thought the film was decent and should not have bombed so horribly at the box office.

Well, I'm one of very few who thought that PWZ had some endearing parts to it so that makes me one of the oldest 13 year olds who posts here. :oldrazz:

I loved it for what it offered; was I looking for something on caliber with Schindler's List? No. Just good comic book escapism. PWZ isn't bad IMO but to each his own... :word:

I agree, i thought it was better than the 04 version

For me the 04 version edges the 08 out by a hair. I don't know what it was, but something about the 08 version just rubs me the wrong way. I liked it, but it just doesn't feel like a great or even a good Punisher movie. I'll watch it again when it hits Blu-Ray and maybe something will kick off for me, that gets me more into it. It took 2 viewings for me to really like the 04. I only got to see 08 once because it was out of theaters before the end credits finished.

Add 8 years to that and you're absolutely right. Please work on your English and stop making generalizations to make you feel better about yourself.

Well call me Loony Bin Jim because Blade II is actually my favorite Marvel movie. I think that it's a big improvement on the first movie and I love the first movie. I can go into the whys but I don't want to derail the thread.

Technically speaking no one really did care, because if they did it sure as hell wouldn't have only made upwards of $8 million.

Everybody takes everything so literally. I am also aware that not everyone on here is a 13 year old. Good lord.

And please, Savage, what was wrong with my English there?

I think it was the 'noone', because it should be two words.

Calm down,man...my retort was in good humor...or so I thought.

No, i laughed at your response. i'm 100% ok with the level of chatter on here. Until people tell me I'm generalising when I clearly am and it's not like I've missed it.

"Excepting the 13 year olds that post on here."

Except for the 13 year olds that post here. or Except the 13 year olds that post here.

That's not a typo. It's just bad english. Just a heads up is all.

And calling people 13 years old just because they liked he movie is pretty insulting. Some people just want to see **** blow up in a movie. Not every movie has to be "Magnolia".

You can use excepting. It's not incorrect, just not appropriate in a formal context. The internet is far from a formal context.

A simple desire to see things blow up in a movie is fairly childish. it doesn't have to be Magnolia, but it can aim higher than Barney.

I don't care about the box office,, yeah they won't make another punisher film now that does suck.

but it made up for the lame 2004 punisher.

if the bad guys in PWZ weren't so cheesey like LBJ for example,,,, this movie would have been great.

but it's the most accurate punisher yet really.
Ray was the man.

It would have been interesting if someone else wrote the script with the villians it would have been better.

oh well I'm buying it on DVD as soon as it's out in march.

No, it's called escapism. No-one watches wrestling for the storylines. No-one goes to a monster truck rally to watch the feuds. It's all escapist fun. Movies where you can sit back, laugh, and ask "Did they really just do that?". Some people go to work, come home tired, and just want to sit back and watch something that will cheer them up. This movie is not trying to be Die Hard or The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. It pretty much goes "Blah, blah, blah, story--Hey! Wanna see how flamable this guy is?!" I mean Fight Club is a terrific movie but it's not a movie you go out with the boys to watch (and, as I learned, not a movie you watch with your girlfriend's family, either).
