Sequels Is 2010 becoming unlikely?

However the Spidey films (as well as Star Wars and Superman Returns) all had much longer production schedules.

SM1 and 2 were all made within two years, and the only reason SM3 took three years was because of the much longer pre-production phase.

SM4 in 2010 is plenty feasible.

Not really, we waited 3 years for SM3.

yeah, but i found out in june 2006 that spidey 3 is making so i had to wait 1 year. i never tought(2 years ago after i saw sm2) there's gonna be spidey 3.so... will be hard to wait. lol :woot:

You'll get used to it, you'd be suprised how fast the time goes by. And I've been following the news on Spider-Man 3 since...well since Spider-Man 2 came out lol...so since 2004.

Yeah, time defenitley goes by fast, I remember when the first Spidey3 picture was revealed, and now the movie is already coming out on DVD.

Maybe but simultaneously, it could come out later.

That's not likely. Scheduling release dates has become a science in Hollywood, and (apparently) Sony already has SM4 pegged for summer 2010. Their priority, first and foremost, is to get it out and profit from it. The quality of the movie's production comes second for studio bigwigs.

If Bryan Singer can get MOS out by '09 then I think Spider-Man 4 could make it out by '10.

We know the Sony machine wants to pump more of these out. I still think salary negotiations are taking place or a writer is already writing a rough draft that will go to Raimi, Tobey, etc...to see if they want to be attached to one or two more films. Or, Raimi and Alvin are writing it in seclusion right now like they did with SM3 and aren't telling the public anything like last time. Who knows...

You seem to know something that the rest of us don't. Do you have a source that backs up your comment about sony scheduling sm4 for the summer of 2010? This is the first I'm hearing this and news like this would have been reported time ago. Also, scheduling releases maybe a science but it's a science that many studios still fail at. Many movies still are given crappy release dates but whatever. I'm aware that quality is second to making a quick buck BUT at this rate, with the money Sony's made off these movies, they have time on their side and can afford to wait another year. They've got nothing to lose by waiting.

So? Before SR came out, supes was away from the big screen for 20 years. He's not being ****ed out as much as spidey has in this day and age. MOS for a 2009 release date is perfectly fine. In the space of 5 years, spidey has had 3 movies...mediocre movies imo BUT they've made some serious dough at the BO, therefore, a 4 year gap is hardly going to dent Sony's chunky wallet or have spidey fall from the spotlight. A 2010 as someone said is feasible but like I also said, a 2011 release date isn't out of the question either.

Two years before Summer 2010 is summer 2008 (wherein there may be an industry-wide strike). Thus SM4 has to have had the ball rolling before then. Summer '08 is quite close now to have a script, a director and several A-list actors all ready to go.

If the strike actually happens (which I HIGHLY doubt) then you might as well start saying 2011 here, then.

I don't care about what is going to dent Sony's wallet or whatever you're saying.

All I'm saying is that the film could be produced and made for a 2010 release.

If this film is released in 2010 it may have huge competition that summer to be honest.

Iron Man's sequel should be arriving then as well as The Incredible Hulk's as well. Also, if Nolan goes right into his his third Batman film after making The Dark Knight, Batman 3 will be released in 2010. After Spider-man 3 I think Spider-man 4 would have to be awesomely made and marketed to dominate that kind of a summer.

Um.... so now Iron Man and Hulk are guaranteed to have sequels? You are pretty optimistic... and Nolan is doing The Prisoner so BB3 will have to wait till 2011. SM4 will be fine in that time slot... they could easily have a June release... I am sure Marvel will put Captain America for the July 4 2010 release. HP 7 will be mid July... Shrek 4 will probably be May once again... POTC 4... that could go anywhere if that gets done... I'd say May or late July... so it will pretty much have the same competition regardless. No need to worry about Batman or Iron Man/Hulk though. You'd be silly to think Marvel will be dishing out three movies a piece for their A-list characters (Thor, C.A, IM)... that's being a bit too naive.

Variety reported it a while ago.

Yes, but both SM2 and SM3 were announced with dates right after their prequel's release.

Because SM2 and SM3 were contracted. Raimi had no choice but to go into those films immediately.

Unless they can write and shoot the film before June, then the strike (if it does happen) will impede SM4's production schedule. There's no getting around that.

I know it can but what's the rush? Why ****e it out so quickly? They might as well leave it for another year and bring in a new cast, that's just my opinion. Its not like the studio are desperate or anything or that sm4 is in a state of desperate demand.

Variety reported it a while ago.

The same people that told us, IronMan won't be going up against jet figter planes in the actual movie?:whatever:

It's clearly Variety being abundantly presumptious, do you have a link to this report?

Exactly, I'd agree if they were bringing in a new cast and crew, but I don't think they're going to for the next film. We'll find out soon.

well considering the world ends in 2012 according to the mayans, I think SM4 coming out in 2011 is cutting it a little fine....

:woot:

I thought that was 2006 not 2012?
