I tuned into the show for the first 6 episodes of season 1 was very disappointed. I felt little to no affinity with any off the characters Is it worth giving it a second chance? Is the show improving?

I was really frustrated with this show during season 1.

Beginning at the crossover with The Winter Soldier, this show has been mostly fantastic, occasionally some of the best stuff in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and at its worst still better than the episodes you watched in season 1.

Yes. Those who stuck it through with Season 1 had a great pay-off when Winter Solider came out and Hydra was revealed. The show has been firing on all cylinders ever since.

AOS has been really good since The Winter Soldier came out. Tuesday Nights are dedicted to this show. I highly recommend you start watching it.:bow:

From about episode 10 and on, they begin a gradual improvement, then WS hits, and everything gets suddenly awesome. Now this season is a whole 'nother ball game.

The slow burn in the beginning pays off huge later on.

It's the show people have wanted it to be. But it couldn't have been initially

Watch season 1 at once, then catch up on season 2. Season 1 started slowly but got great, and season 2 is even better.

I'd have to say yes it has improved, but the liked the last season too!

Yes but it still has a lot of flaws.
-Lack of chemistry with the cast (like Bobbi and Hunter)
-So-so acting
-Cheesey lines (what have we done?, he's a... monster, if I ever see you again I'll kill you)
-Unintentional funny with the dramatic/serious scenes

It is still not great TV to me.

Absolutely. From Winter Soldier onward it became a totally different (much better) show.

As for the cheesy dialogue, I feel like that's pretty much a symptom of every live-action comic book superhero-based show ever made. I personally find the dialogue on AoS to be less cringe-worthy than that of Gotham, Arrow, Constantine and The Flash (3 of which I still do enjoy, for the record) but that's me. Of all the CBM shows on the air right now, AoS is the best to me in terms of both writing and production values, though there's still certainly plenty of room for improvement.

When I first started watching 14 months ago I only made it 2 episodes in before I knew I'd better hold off on this all until the entire 1st season was done so I could just get it all finished with real quickly. Those first two episodes left so much to be desired and I hate watching most anything week to week(even when it's good) so the prospect of waiting every week for something I wasn't going to like kept me away. But it really does pick up and the 1st season ended being decent all in all. Season 2 has been at least as good, if not better and I think this last episode was my favorite of the last 30 so far.

Yeah, it still has some minor issues, but it's still great for what it is. Comic book movies and TV shows should be expected to have a little cheese to them. And it is on a family network.

Bottom line, it's much better and very enjoyable, especially if you watch season one without all of the breaks.

SOME of us like cheesy :p

with the exception of TWD, naturally, best CB TV show atm, with Gotham as a close second.

In a way that you can't imagine.

Exactly.

It's like comparing early Star Trek Next Generation episodes (non-bearded Ryker) to later seasons. The improvement is remarkable.

season 1 was pretty rough for the first half and then started to improve. Season 2 is a whole 'nother beast. It is just FANTASTIC.

If feeling little to no affinity with any of the characters is your main reason for being disappointed, you're in for a treat.

Really enjoy Skye, Ward is great as a psychotic villain and Coulson is always great. But the show is still not as good as it could be. I think often when it comes to gadgets or action sequences, the show looks really hookey. Best example is the Episode when they tried to get the painting with the carvings. The disguising technology showed off in TWS, just looked really cheap. In the movie it almost looked like a second layer of skin that Black Widow peeled off. In the show it looked like cheap plastic.

Then there was that action sequence with May vs May. That was just so badly choreographed, with so many wide swings, that no seasoned fighter would get hit by. It felt like watching some 80's action movie, where the choreography wasn't as refined as it is today.

I saw where season one will start streaming on Netflix November 20th. Check it out. Totally worth it.

Pre-beard Riker TNG = bad
Post-beard Riker TNG = awesome

Pre-beard Ward AoS = bad
Post-beard Ward AoS = awesome

I've solved every TV show's problems :funny:
