Is anyone else finding ultimate Wanda and Pietro's relationship a little disurbing?

Right and wrong, Trigger. Any incestuous overtones people may have thought they saw in the regular MU are just running gags. However, in the Ultimate U, Millar has specifically stated that it's intimation to a sexual relationship.

Basically, the Ultimate relationship between the two was created in a way that makes fun of and exacerbates the jokes about one in the 616 Universe.

Ultimate Thor is crazy.

I just figured he was stoned all the time, we need more stoner characters in comics. Imagine what mister fantastic would look like ripped, it'd be like he'd melted onto the sofa! :D

Though I didn't know that bit of info about the Ultimate Pietro and Wanda, I was referring to the 616 ones in specific since they were the ones Artistsean were asking about.

To be honest I really didn't think much of it till I read this thread. I just want to ask ya something, and keep in mind that you have a very tight relationship with her. If you had a sister that started flirting with a robot would you get mad? If your sisters asked you to read poetry, why wouldn't you read it to her? and last but not least, what is wrong with consoling your sister or brother, everyone does it differently. I still think they're innocent till Pietro grabs her ass or kisses her.

Then they'll always be innocent in your version since there are things that are not allowed to be SHOWN in comics, but they can sure as heck be implied. Even if you're really tight with your sister, why would you be mad at her for flirting with a machine? I'd probably be making fun of her, not getting jealous.

in 616 there is virtually no incestual undertones whatsoever. in 616, quicksilver is just an extremely overprotective brother. he and his sister have suffered much in their live from a very young age. from being hated for their mutancy, to being used by their father, the dissolution of both their marriages, wanda losing her sons, wanda's breakdown, etc.

Yeah, theyre just really close, but not that close and have never been shown to be unless you want to see that it doesnt exist.

how do you know he was jealous? and if my sister flirted with a robot, I'll be pissed then have her commited. anybody watches Futurama?

Thank you!! when he grabs her ass then I'll worry

He's talking about the REGULAR universe Wanda and Pietro, not the Ultimate ones.

and which Magneto is worse 616 or Ultimate? aside from treating him worse, he shot his kneecaps off. So who's he gonna turn to? His twin sister who's the only one who loves him and knows what he's going through

Hahahahahaha, desperation's so funny!:D:up:

A key problem with this statement is that you're acting as if incest is based solely off of sexual intercourse. If at any point the EMOTIONAL aspects of a brother and sister's relationship gets to the point where they treat each other as lovers or are simply too emotionally attached in certain ways, the relationship is then incestuous.

Keep in mind that it's a difficult line to draw: how close is too close, and at which point does a healthy familial relationship turn into something wrong? While it's easy to simply draw the line at physical intercourse, the fact remains that many incestuous relationships involve no sex at all.

I always read their lines in the book as if they have French accents.

It turns into something wrong when you start reading romantic poetry in Venice, calling each other darling and getting jealous over perceived flirtations with a walking toaster.

They're definately doing it.

I actually prefer Wanda to be with Pietro than to have her with a damn robot. At least incest as bizarre and disgusting as it is, at least it is something that is not new to the world. anybody watch Futurama?

Wait wait wait. You'd rather those two father genetically inferior children, run against heavy social lines, and effectively pull the Ultimates into question by family groups over Wanda basically making out with a "bells and whitles" vibrator? Women recieving the right to vote was new to the world once. So was black people getting human rights.

If the machine is like a human, and can understand love and pain, I saw why not?

Haha.....That'd be a good storyline for the Ultimates......How they have to react to the public when Quicksilver gets Scarlet Witch pregnant. That'd be hilarious.

Well, I guess that depends on your individual philosophy. I'm a follower of Ayn Rand's Objectivism, and believe as such that certain ethical issues are objectively wrong and right. Incest is one of them.

They are too touchy feely, as soon as I saw the cover with them on it I thought something was wrong. Them holding hands, her stradling his leg, them almost hugging.
Maybe if they were twins or something, I don't know. It just feels wrong.
Its like that episode of Friends, where the one of them was dating this guy who was TOO close to his sister.

My question is, Why make them SOOOO close? Whats the point?
