Beer is my least favorite drink, I've never gotten used to it, and i dont think i ever will..

I seems that everyone drinks, Especially in high school and college, where every party is filled with drunken *****bags and thugs. It seems you can only make friends in high school and college if you lower yourself to what everyones doing. (sheep) But if thats how to make friends, then i'd rather be a loner. Everyone wants to share the Same cool. especially in school. Everyone has to like the same thing and so the same thing(drinking, drugs) But to me cool is a point of view, and drugs and alcohol are not in my definition of what cool to me is. you shouldn't have to drink or smoke to be accepted. But hey, who wants to be accepted into a group of scumbags anyways? i know i don't.

I talked to a few of my friends over the year who drinks and smokes and they agree with me. Thats all what kids do these days are drinking and doing drugs and thats what their lives revolve around, day in and day out. She was surprised that i never done anything. She even convinced me by saying "you'll make a lot of friends" then i replied with "i'd rather be alone" with a smile. :yay:

I used to have a lot of close friends, but now i lost them to drugs and alcohol. I cant hang out with them anymore because all they do is get drunk and get high. They used to be fun and interesting. Very creative and we shared a lot of hobbies and interests. we made a lot of movies and went on vacations (pre-high school) Now all they are interested in is getting wasted. its sad that your best friends can later turn out to disappoint and disgust you.

what are your insights and opinions on this controversy matter. I hope there isn't any jerks and bully's on today :cwink:

Ive never touched a drink in my life, alot of my friends drink and dont understand why I dont do it myself. When I was younger i admit it was harder for me to not put one down my throat , but as I got older I dont really think about it anymore.

You'll never going to be cool. :down

I never got into the whole drinking thing. Through out highschool all of my friends did but I never saw the glory in it.

...I used to get high all the time..
Seriously you need to do something just be able to live anymore!

I've really never even had a desire to drink, smoke, do drugs, or anything of that sort.

Even if I did, I've seen what it does to people, and I don't wanna end up doing that ****.

In the first paragraph, that just isn't true. It's not a matter of what everyone else is doing or how many sheep there are. It's a matter of what people you come to meet and when you discover who you are. I was kind of inbetween being friends with geeks and being friends with the cool/popular kids. I decided to not try and change myself to be "cool" to just be me and hang out with the geeks, and in doing that I was able to stay away from alcohol and drugs and peer pressure, but stay friends with everyone as a whole.
So it's what you actively do, not what others want you to do. There are lots of people that do NOT drink or smoke. And you are CORRECT. Cool is exactly the way you defined it. You don't need them or their highs to escape.

I have drank alcohol before. But I did it before it was "cool" I would like ninja wine away from adults at parties when I was like 12. Simply because I decided that I wanted some. And, if at a party, I will make a choice of whether I want to drink or not. I DESPISE BEER. Hate. And refuse to drink it again unless I feel like everything is-----no, I'm lying. I'll probablly NEVER drink beer again. Disgusting tastes like rotten zombie baby vomit.

Exactly. Some people think that the second you touch alcohol or drugs, you become addicted. As far as alcohol goes, just have some self control and you'll be fine.

nobody should drink beer until they are of legal drinking age. Then they should never stop.

I like beer and it likes me.

  • It's "ARE beer and drugs overrated?"
  • It's "college", not "collage".
  • There's an "e" on the end of "*****E"
  • When you say "everyones doing something", it's supposed to be as if you said "Everyone IS Doing something.", but you omitted the "I" in "IS". That's where the apostrophe comes in....it's "Everyone's doing something."
  • You can't put a period after "especially in school", because that's not a sentence. Periods are used to indicate the ending of a sentence.
  • This entire next section is just mind bogglingly painful to read:

Read it back to yourself and see if you can find 10 or 20 of the problems with it. :)
It'll be a fun exercise and whether it's fair or not, if you sound uneducated, people in life may dismiss the hell out of you...never bothering to get to know the real you but rather writing you off as "an idiot" or "a ******".
That's no good way to go through life.

And finally, this seems to be a big problem for you:
You said, "I hope THERE ISN'T any jerks and bullies on today."

You have GOT to say, "I hope there AREN'T any jerks and bullies on today.

It's different depending upon whether you're talking about a singular person or personS plural.

The ONE jerk IS on the hype today.
The many jerkS ARE on the Hype today.

You wouldn't say, "There IS 12 jerks on today."
There ARE 12 jerks.
See?

I hate how everyone drinks and does drugs in "collage"

I have never really liked alcohol that much.I have never found Beer to taste nice and I have tried lots of different beers. I don't drink anymore as it bores me. I have never really craved alcohol drinks and I was only a social drinker anyway.

The only thing that bothers me is the people who think you need to drink to have a good time. I've been out with work collegues and meet people in bars, pub and clubs, that when you say your not drinking, look at you like your mad.
Its especially bad here in the UK where drinking is a big part of the culture. A lot of people in this country go out just to get drunk at weekends and don't stop drinking untill their wallets and purses are empty.

The Knight didn't mention how drugs and alcohol could lead a person down to a dark road of promiscious sex, armed robbery and frotteurism.

I totally disagree.
When I was young I was a good Christian and looked down on all of my friends who did drugs and got wasted every night.
I didn't even drink coffee.

They all had their insane boozing phase, sneaking a pint of vodka into the all ages dance club by pouring it into their empty hairspray bottles in their purse, etc.

So they all went nuts in their youth, when their young, resiliant bodies could bounce back from the damage more easily, whereas I started drinking right around age 21.

Now, without exception all of my friends who were partying insanely all through their teenage years burned out on it and now are married with families and really good careers.
In fact the heaviest drinker from those days, she now has 3 martinis a year, on her birthday, and that's IT.

But I'm 35 and became a raging alcoholic and drank to excess every other day for like 10 years.

So I think teens should drink, drink, drink till they get bored with it.
It's easier for them to heal, AND to change behaviours as they grow, than it is for someone who is almost 40.

Dude. If you are serious, then you are like the biggest square in the world. Yeah people should use better grammar, and it would help to make sentances that are coherent. But people come online sometimes to escape daily dramas such as school, and it's not like he wrote so terribly that we couldn't tell what the kid was saying. To ignore the question and speak to his grammar is so insanely *******-ish.

You're a really smart guy. Some of your posts before were awesome. So I guess you would be the person to correct someone, but still dude. You're like not even a mod or anything. I'm sorry it's just that kind of stuff really annoys me when someone does that in real life. "I was just there. She said she wanted water to drank." (I'm from philly so I guess I have picked up an accent?) and usually preppy girls that have all the answers will stop and correct me and go "Drink. She wanted something to drink." Like who the **** are you to stop me and correct me about a stupid sentance? Though usually in things like that, the person is wrong anyway. Because they did not even consider the thought of accents or local dialects. So I guess here it's better. But dude come on!

Frotteurism?
