or do you celebrate it as another holiday but you get a lot of gifts.

i ask this because also a lot of atheists celebrate christmas.

I know it's tied to more pagan rituals then Christian, but I really don't care about that. It's just a cool day where you get some nice gifts and really, really, REALLY try to not snap at your family.

Once you turn 19, does it even mean anything anymore?

A bit late but still funny, though weird

My church had a Christmas Eve service, so I went, and had a good time.

well...to me is an excuse to go party "althoug" i believe in christ

Yeahh I guess. I don't go to midnight mass or owt obviously since A) I'm a Pagan & B) It's a Pagan festival, nicked by christians! lol so why would I celebrate their way? I celebrate Yule/ Winter Solstice & well Crimbo day just 'cos it's a wicked day, nice atmosphere, being around family & friends & that. :-)

To the rest of my family, it's religious. To me, it isn't. I get time off of work, that's my holiday. I don't go to church or any of that nonsense.

I'm not a religious person, so honestly, yes, it is about the presents. :o

No, as an atheist it is indeed not religious for me. Wouldn't say it's all about the presents either though (though the presents do play a part). It's just nice for family/relatives to gather up... eat, drink, and talk for a day in the cold and darkness of winter.

So for me I guess it's a celebration of love, family and togetherness more than anything else... oh... and presents.

That's how I see it too, Kent.

I'm a Christian. While I love the traditions, some Christian, some may not be, I still love them. The heart of Christmas is still Christian in nature, but I try not to let it over the importance of the birth of Christ.

for a very long time, it wasn't, but this past Christmas was, and I plan to keep it that way

No, just a time I get to spend with my parents since I don't get to see them very often during the course of the year.

hahaha ok:whatever:

Kinda. Mom's cats kidnapped the baby Jesus from her manger set so Christmas morning we had to try and find Jesus. He's still missing.

I acknowledge that people like the gifts, and I understand that it may have ties to pagan rituals. But the holiday is heavily a christian holiday. It doesn't matter if it has pagan basis or if you like toys or whatever. It just seems laughable to me if someone is agnostic or atheist and still wants to celebrate Christmas. Christ is even in the name.

I like motza, though I'm not going to celebrate Chanukkah every year and defend it by going "well Channukkah isn't truly a religious holiday..".

I don't think it's right to try to take something that isn't yours just because you like it.

Like, to clerify...I think it's cool to have people celebrate the holiday. But in celebrating you have to be mindful of what exactly it is. If you celebrate the holiday and you accept people doing prayers or discussing Jesus, then okay. But you can't even focus on the birth of Christ in christmas specials anymore with a general audience rating.

Like wtf are you watching a christmas special for if you are offended by christ?

It s a holiday , Its a day off work , It's Christ's bithday , and It's different to alot of people. If you want to celebrate there are two aspects of it . One is to put presents under the tree and the other is to go to church . If you decide to do one or both it is acceptable. I choose to only do one of those things and it doesn't involve going to church. people want to have a good time and if they like the ritual and its not harming anybody else , let it be.
Some people have chosen not to accept jesus , should we take christmas away from them ? would that bring them closer to jesus? Probably not.
