I've been using Gimp for a long time, but I know that Photoshop is the go-to program for image manipulation. And, like almost everyone else, have seen the great work produced by it. I'm wondering if you guys think Gimp is on the same level.

I haven't used the GIMP, but I have photoshop & might download GIMP to compare. To me, though, it depends on what you want to use it for and also your personal skill level. You can have the best program out there but if you aren't talented, it won't do you any good. I've seen amazing things come out of MS Paint for example :)

I have GIMP, but I have yet to use it, because it's not very user friendly. Still can't figure it out.

Photoshop is much better. As Hotwire said, gimp is not user friendly, and the fact it needed 3 windows open last time I tried using it bothered me.(one window for the canvas, one for the tools and one for the colors/alterations etc)

It's funny, because I think GIMP is very user friendly. Maybe it's because I've never used Photoshop. :O

Photoshop costs up to $700. Gimp wins on price standpoint alone. For functionality, I'd have to go with Photoshop and other Adobe products since they work together so seamlessly.

Lol how is this even a discussion. If you're good with GIMP, I'm sure you can make some pretty nice artwork. But photoshop is where its at and all you have to do is download the trial version to find out.

Photoshop is always the way to go. Best interface, best tools, best everything.

The price is kind of iffy though

Tried both...Photoshop is in another league...yet it also put me in the hole big time price wise
