When I'm bored I'll sometime peruse around user reviews about various movies and this one was just so completely irksome to me, I laugh. Can anyone else see what's wrong with this post perhaps its just me....

KrabbyPatty101 posted this about Drillbit Taylor

"I'm one of those "indie-films-or-bust" type of people (with my favorite movies ranging from Amelie to the Darjeeling Limited), so when I saw the preview for Drillbit Taylor, it was an immediate turn-off for me. I saw it as boob, nuts, and ass jokes (aka crude teenage humor) and I was not excited to see it. However, an opportunity arose to see the movie well before it came out and I took the chance to see it.

To my great surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie to its fullest. Sure Owen Wilson is funny, but the kids stole the show. The crude humor was left to a minimum and the funniest lines were the really subtle ones that almost everyone missed. This movie had heart and a good message (which you don't normally see in mainstream teenage movies *excluding Juno*). Although I know it's probably not gonna make huge headlines, I feel like this movie needs more recognition than it's gonna get. I want to see this movie go big, and I'm excited to see what people say about it. So take it from me, it's funny and it's not disappointing."

What I find irksome is that KrabbyPatty101 has that movie elitist mindset that I hate. They overgeneralize, judge before that see a film, and are snobby pricks.

Sounds like KrabbyPatty needs to drop the indie-or-bust attitude and start seeing some better comedies.

I think it's perfectly all right to watch art films or blockbusters and enjoy whatever you want out of each genre.

It drives me crazy when people only watch the art/indy films and look down on the people who have the audacity to enjoy the big summer movies.

But it also drives me crazy when I have to stay in the city after work to catch an indy/art film when the local theaters where I live don't play them.

I like all kinds of movies. I don't limit myself to any genre.

I hate people who think they are better than other people...

It wasn't KrabbyPatty's elitism which is annoying in itself but...

"I'm one of those "indie-films-or-bust" type of people (with my favorite movies ranging from Amelie to the Darjeeling Limited),"

Amelie is foreign and Darjeeling Limited is a Studio Indie.

"This movie had heart and a good message (which you don't normally see in mainstream teenage movies *excluding Juno*)." Again another studio film...

Krabby's complete ignorance to the fact thate he is in fact a complete pseudo-film buff is what makes me laugh. Nothing wrong with studio indies or foreign films but there not indie films. Secondly there's a very fine line between Studio Indy and Studio film, that its simply funny to me is all.

what is a "Bust" type of person?

I just find it hilarious that, for an arthouse film snob, this person doesn't come across as being very intelligent at all.

I hate f'ing snobs... it's full of those kind of movie snobs here in Italy... basically, here what's made in the USA is crap, because it's "typical Hollywood" trash. Our trash (Italian trash) is arthouse... I don't get my f'ing country...

It makes me laugh that he's an anti-mainstream art house film snob, yet he lists "The Darjeeling Limited" (not an indie movie) as one of his favorite films, AND his username is "Krabby Patty 101", taken from one of the most mainstream cartoons ever, "Spongebob Squarepants".

A bust type of person is for that one "thing" or nothing at all.

So in his/her case when they say "indie-film or bust" it means they only watch those films and nothing else or mainstream for that matter...because Yes they are a typical nose in the air film snob.

Also, as many people already pointed out...he/she isn't as Indie as they think they are.

I don't get why people must chose between sides of what type of films they have to watch. I like ALL types for the most part and don't get why those "elitist" types must only watch "indie" or "artsie" type films.

I throw the bull s*** flag down when any of them say that none of the more mainstream movies(even ones that don't have a incredible massive budget and aren't full of explosions) aren't entertaining.

There are a good number out there that are considered "mainstream" (at least when compared to indie films) that aren't "shut your brain off" kind of films.

Any straight guy that only likes indie movie doesn't sound very straight to me. :o That's right, I said it.
