Should DC build slowly towards Justice League?

agreed!

Regardless of whether you are right about how viewers would actually respond, that ultimately isn't what matters. Its the attitudes and beliefs of the execs in charge of making the movie. They are the ones I don't believe for a second would pass up using Batman, or that believe Batman is much more important and marketable than Superman.

Actually money is ultimately what matters. If WB can make money without going through the hassle of a recast or reboot, they will.

As for who is more marketable, there are arguments to be made for Superman, Batman, and Spiderman as #1. They're the biggest historical icons. However, when the gloves are off and we talk about the absolute avatar of all comic book characters, it's Superman, period. That being said, Marvel went forth without their centerpiece because hindsight proved that they didn't need him. If WB thinks there's a viable future without Supes and/or Bats, money will talk.

I know Spider-Man was a new Avenger but he isn't a charter member like Batman or Superman are with the JL.

Even having a JL movie with just WW, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg and Shazam would feel like it's missing something.

Batman (Iron Man)
Nightwing (War Machine)
Superman (Cap)
Supergirl (Winter Soldier)
Wonder Woman
Aquaman (Thor)
Shazam (Spidey)
Green Arrow (Hawkeye)
Black Canary (Black Widow)
Flash (???)
Atom or Blue Beetle (Ant Man)
Green Lantern (Captain Marvel)
John Stewart (Falcon)
Doctor Fate (Dr Strange)
Zatanna (Scarlet Witch)
Martian Manhunter (Vision)

Now as far as the DCEU GOTG lite I don't even know who that could be

But either way the JL is set and or your DCEU could be set if you set it up this way

Men in Black became the biggest cbm of all time at that time
unless JL Mortal came to fruition & managed to do better than JLA
...that was essentially the best live-action JL movie
and now this past one is the best one until better comes along

I think most people will credit Blade and X-Men fanning the flame of the comic book movie genre prior to Spider-Man. Before Blade, it was still Batman and everyone else. I don't think most people even knew that Men in Black was based on a comic book.

We've seen much less likely scenarios come to fruition. In 2007, most of us would have scoffed at the idea that Iron Man, Deadpool, and the Guardians of the Galaxy would be huge franchises. In the past year, I've seen people, some right here in SHH, write off Aquaman and a Spider-man-less Venom as failures before day 1 of shooting. Yet all of that has come to pass as the GA has a much different set of expectations from veteran comic book reading fans.

No. Wait till the reboot at this point. Things might just get worse if At&T puts one of their home grown ceos in charge. Let them continue with the current slate as all stand alones and end it.

They'll make a justice league movie without batman and super man if it makes money. Those two need to get it together. To answer the question I see aqua man as sort of the first reboot with Wonder Woman. They'll pretty much ignore bvs and justice league and slowly build to another. Probably in about 8 years.

I feel they missed the boat with the current cast even if it's a partial reboot. The ones they keep could be a bit too old once they establish the rest. I'd rather just have a focus on solo films.

Okay but then the fans are gonna want team up films especially JL if the Universe keeps putting out great films and of course they build to it the right way like Marvel has done

My prediction: they’ll give Momoa and Gadot their separate trilogies, recast the rest of the League with younger actors (who will start separate franchises of their own), and start a brand new and ostensibly separate Justice League franchise with the new guys and a new Aquaman and Wonder Woman.

I guess that works too

I think we’ll get a new JL movie in the next 5 years and Gadot, Momoa and Levi will all be in it
