I might pick up some issues of the upcoming venom saga and the hammerhead return in 575 looks interesting as well as norman osborns return as the original green goblin drawn by JR JR

Well then there you go. You don't sound like you plan on staying. Just go in for that arc you want, then when its over and the next arcs/stories don't seem to interest you, drop the book. I came back just for NWTD (the Venom arc) for Venom, Anti-Venom, the Thunderbolts, and Norman Osborn. I may stay, but I doubt it.

Seriously, are you for or against BND? Don't like the current state of Spidey? Then it's not worth reading anymore.

i drifted away from amazing after the first few issues of brand new day, from then on ive just glanced at some issues. things really havent caught my eye since Kravens first hunt which looked cool, but I didnt read it.

Im not against Amazing, just when everything gets back into order I'll come back

The Kingpin ass kicking still happened...

Everything that happened to Spidey (except the wedding) happened up until OMD.

:yay:

oh you caught my post before i edited it, how did that still happen? i thought she was never shot?

No she was shot, she just was allowed to live. Mr. Li healed her

DR. Omega....

I think your opinion might be like mine.
Seeing as the first couple of BND issues didn't interest you that much and your still willing to give it a shot.

My advice to you is pick up NWTD.

but don't keep the book on your pull list. many of the stories have not been TPB worthy in my opinion. it just doesn't feel cohesive because the authors are switched every month just about.
I hated it in the 90s. and I hate it here....it's why the essentials will eventually run into a problem in amazing. (however not the case here)

No one knows whats going on in Amazing anymore.... :csad:
I'm thinking it should be called "alternate" Spider-man now.

It seems like Slott's stories are the most important stories to read so far. He kicked off BND pretty well with Mcniven, then he brought mary jane back with Marcos Martin's beautiful artwork, and now he's doing a big green goblin/ venom/ thunderbolts/ story with the legendary JR JR. Anyone else feel like Guggenheim, and Gale are getting the short end of the stick here? Not that im complaining mind you, those guys suck at writing spidey and clearly Slott has a great hold on the character.

Slott is obviously getting more treatment because he has more recognition in terms of great story telling. They want to raise sells, and you can't really blame them for that.

What amazes me is all of these Brain trust writers are GOOD writers. but it's like they are being held back seriously....even Dan Slott at times. His work on BND has been pretty good thus far but I know he can do much better.

picking up BND is a constant reminder of OMD because the book isn't moving in any direction. it's just been sitting in the same spot for 8 months. :csad:

It'll be back on my pull list when Spidey starts moving again.

Thats the problem with BND, im sure Slott and everybody else are under strict guidelines and restrictions when they write their stories. When JMS was writing, you could tell he had complete liberty to write whatever kind of story he wanted, you never knew what he was going to do next. With the BND writers, theres a bunch of stuff that they cannot do now, and their stories feel restrained. This is kinda odd since Marvel's best current books are ones in which the writers took risks and had a lot of creative liberty: Bendis unmasked Daredevil and sent him in jail, Brubaker killed Captain America and sent the X-men to California, the Knaufs made Ironman director of SHIELD, Greg Pak made the Hulk become king of another planet etc. the list goes on. You'd think they'd follow suit with Spiderman right? Especially since the sales were so high during JMS' run.

I agree,
If I were in charge of writing duties I would have Peter and Mj on the run as the next big focus of the book. Instead they hid behind the unmasking as a way to complete the agenda of bringing back harry and erasing the marriage.

Well, if you ask me, I think ASM is definitely worth reading again... some issues are better than others, but all around, it's been a great ride this year.

:yay:

Well....I'm not being biased. I hope it doesn't sound that way at least. :csad:

but he's claimed the first couple of issues didn't really interest him. (as they really aren't nothing to ride home about.) so i figure to tell him hey skip the lame stuff save your money and go straight to the good stuff....namely NWTD. :yay:

Well, in my opinion, it isn't worth reading, because of...well....blah blah blah. We all know what I'm going to say, and I'm out of ways to describe it without copying my past posts.

I think my LCS owner said it best:

"If you can shut off your brain and forget having read any Spidey for the past 20 years, then it's great. If you're going to constantly ask yourself why something is happening, then you shouldn't bother."

I seriously got a headache when I first thought about all the continuity issues in the first issue. seriously, no joke. :csad:

And that's a myth... you don't have to forget what happened in the last 20 years... Peter clearly remembers his encounter with Vermin during Kraven's Last Hunt... these things happened.

So IN MY OPINION, having that kind of mentality is really robbing some people of some fun Spidey stories.

:csad:

I've actually gone on record stating before (that I go in reading BND with a clear mind.)

I call the amazing spider-man "alternate spider-man" now. get it? ultimate, alternate....oh well. :csad:

If they would just stop writing themselves in a box it would be MUCH better.

That's my thing. I believe that changing a major event like a marriage alters history. It would have affected the way Peter dealt with things, and the way MJ would have things as well. For me, saying it all happened the exact same, except Peter and MJ were just "shackin' up" as opposed to being married is just an insult to my intelligence. Things would have happened differently.

I can understand people not being able to enjoy it because of that.

Oh, off topic, but how funny was it to see Amazing Spider-Man Family come out with "Brand New Day" on the cover, and 2 of the stories in it feature a married Peter Parker?

I would recommend some of it. I really liked some arcs, and liked some less. I would not recommend anything with freak. I would highly recomment the arc written by zeb wells and drawn by chris bachalo. Peter is well written, the story is interesting and fun, and it acknowledges spidey's role in the new avengers. I'm really enjoying new ways to die, and I hope the conclusion explains some of the continuity mess. If the continuity issues bother you a lot, however, then you might not enjoy it as much. It's a lot better than a lot of people seem to be making it out to be, however. There have been some fun spidey stories this year. I think it's worth the money overall.

Agreed (although i liked the Freak stuff as well :o )...the current storyline is top-notch! :spidey:

I only get Ultimate Spiderman monthly while I only get The Amazing Spiderman trades that are supposed to be good(like none:oldrazz:) but I've been picking up the "New Ways To Die" arc which is decent at the least, IMO.

IS it worth readings right now?

Tough question.

My opinion, is a solid and strong NO WAY. This isn't even spider-man anymore. His history is altered. THe marriage never even happened. YOu've got an entire planet mindwiped, and PEte sold out to the devil, whom AUnt May now owes her life to, by the way.

If that sounds good, then sure!

On an objective note NOT based on my opinion...Amazing like any other comic is worth reading IF you ENJOY it, period.

IF you do, then buy it, or any comic. It is YOUR opinion that matters. Not mine or anyone elses. Buy and read what YOU like. :yay:

Coming from someone who absolutely hated OMD/BND, I've been really enjoying the current story arc. I was ready to let my subscription run out and not give Spidey another thought for a while, but if the quality keeps up, I may stick around.
