oh you caught my post before i edited it, how did that still happen? i thought she was never shot? The Kingpin ass kicking still happened...
Everything that happened to Spidey (except the wedding) happened up until OMD.
It seems like Slott's stories are the most important stories to read so far. He kicked off BND pretty well with Mcniven, then he brought mary jane back with Marcos Martin's beautiful artwork, and now he's doing a big green goblin/ venom/ thunderbolts/ story with the legendary JR JR. Anyone else feel like Guggenheim, and Gale are getting the short end of the stick here? Not that im complaining mind you, those guys suck at writing spidey and clearly Slott has a great hold on the character.
Thats the problem with BND, im sure Slott and everybody else are under strict guidelines and restrictions when they write their stories. When JMS was writing, you could tell he had complete liberty to write whatever kind of story he wanted, you never knew what he was going to do next. With the BND writers, theres a bunch of stuff that they cannot do now, and their stories feel restrained. This is kinda odd since Marvel's best current books are ones in which the writers took risks and had a lot of creative liberty: Bendis unmasked Daredevil and sent him in jail, Brubaker killed Captain America and sent the X-men to California, the Knaufs made Ironman director of SHIELD, Greg Pak made the Hulk become king of another planet etc. the list goes on. You'd think they'd follow suit with Spiderman right? Especially since the sales were so high during JMS' run.
Well, in my opinion, it isn't worth reading, because of...well....blah blah blah. We all know what I'm going to say, and I'm out of ways to describe it without copying my past posts.
I think my LCS owner said it best:
"If you can shut off your brain and forget having read any Spidey for the past 20 years, then it's great. If you're going to constantly ask yourself why something is happening, then you shouldn't bother."

And that's a myth... you don't have to forget what happened in the last 20 years... Peter clearly remembers his encounter with Vermin during Kraven's Last Hunt... these things happened.
So IN MY OPINION, having that kind of mentality is really robbing some people of some fun Spidey stories.
I would recommend some of it. I really liked some arcs, and liked some less. I would not recommend anything with freak. I would highly recomment the arc written by zeb wells and drawn by chris bachalo. Peter is well written, the story is interesting and fun, and it acknowledges spidey's role in the new avengers. I'm really enjoying new ways to die, and I hope the conclusion explains some of the continuity mess. If the continuity issues bother you a lot, however, then you might not enjoy it as much. It's a lot better than a lot of people seem to be making it out to be, however. There have been some fun spidey stories this year. I think it's worth the money overall.
