There's an interesting backlash against Anita and games journalism, if you search the hashtags #gamergate and #notyourshield.

There's a contingent of women and people of color that don't like it when people presume to speak on their behalf, get outraged on their behalf, and labelling of critics as misogynists.

What's amazing is when the people using these hashtags are accused of being fake. It really speaks volumes about how much people have bought into the current narrative about gamers pushed by people like Anita and gaming press.

I've been reading portions of a book called 'Who Stole Feminism', and its bang on when it describes privileged feminists, legally protected and free, preoccupied with their own hurt. 1: All I've been able to find about the guy are his paintings and a tiny bio on wikipedia about the fact that he made paintings. I haven't found any writings by the guy or any kind of wackadoo manifesto, just the paintings. I might be wrong about this, and if I am please correct me, but I see no indication that he was any kind of radical feminist revolutionary with any kind of world view he wanted to impose on other people. He just seems to me like a guy with a femdom fetish.

2: The similarities between his (alleged) beliefs and Nazim are pretty deniable. Even if he did think that the world would be better off if all men were dominated by women (which I have found no evidence of), that's a far cry from fascist governments, wars of conquest, and genocide. That is, at best a little weird and not applicable to all relationships.

Maybe the reason you can't find any sort of written beliefs is because since he was Japanese, likely anything he wrote would be written in Japanese and be unable to find (unless you knew the language). There's a difference between someone who is an erotic painter (I see we're going to ignore the fact that Hitler was also a painter) and someone who felt the entire male population should be used and abused by "superior" women, much like how Hitler believed that people with blue eyes and hair were superior to everyone else.

I've watched a few of Anita Sarkeesian's videos and I find them pretty good. There's a lot of information in there and I appreciate that she approaches the genre from a scholarly perspective. She prepares her video exactly as an academic would, but she provides more explanation and more context and uses less jargon, appropriate given her audience.

1: It's pretty easy to find things that were written in Japanese. You just go to Japan.

2: Hitler being a painter is irrelevant.

3: There's no evidence that he felt the entire male population should be dominated. More likely, he just got off on the idea of women dominating him and painted pictures about it.

I didn't mean that being a painter meant you were evil or anything, that's a gross assumption. I'm just stating that there are a lot of similarities between Hitler and Harukawa:

Hitler believed in the oppression of jews and believed that people with blonde hair and blue eyes should rule (ironic, being that Hitler didn't even have these features himself, you think he would've wanted people with black hair and blue eyes).

Harukawa believed in the oppression of men and that women should rule. Unlike Hitler though, who wanted to get rid of jews, Harukawa wanted men to be slaves, and sometimes even worse, he wanted men to be objects.

They both were alive in the early half of the 20th century.

Both had radical ideas.

Now admittedly, Harukawa never took his ideas as far as Hitler did. He didn't make a political group out surrounding his ideas. He might have though, and maybe again, since a lot of what he may have wrote was in Japanese, we don't know what do he!

Now why is everyone ignoring JonTron for supporting someone like this? Had he made a tweet saying "Until we live like what Hitler envisioned" people would be demanding for his apology, but here, nobody cares. Why?

1: What evidence do you have that Harukawa had a political ideology that he thought should be imposed on all men? The only thing we have is his paintings, which only indicate that he had a personal fetish for femdom, or perhaps was trying to evocatively switch around the usual sexual power dynamics.

2: The fact that someone spoke and wrote in Japanese does not make their writings inaccessible. Written works get translated from Japanese to English on a daily basis.
