Is the media prejudice against snakes?

In the video I'm watching one animal being preyed on while two jerks with a camera watch with glee. At least a PBS Nature special serves an educational purpose. This was just for sport.

Bull, how many times can you watch a lion rip a buffalo to shreds before you've got it figured out? The difference is PBS hides behind the veal of education. But what people watch it for is to see animals kill each other.

That's some ol' bull****.

You can't compare PBS watching something completely natural happen and them filming it for educational purposes to people setting up enclosed situations that will result in the death of animals for entertainment!

First of all, the animals we see on those PBS shows aren't domesticated. They're in the wild, and they don't always get their kill. The snake in the video is something the guy bought from a store, and it doesn't need to feed on a live animal.

Relax, I already had the tracking device implanted in your testicles when you got your vasectomy. I check in every half hour.

So people who own snakes shouldn't feed their snakes live prey because it gives you the willies? It's exactly that attitude that's messed up in your society. I swear people have been watching too many Disney movies.

Maybe, but I, for damn sure, am.
F***ing snakes. The same goes out to bees and wasps, too. You stupid motherf***ers.

:down

Many snake charmers remove the fangs or the venom sacs from their snakes, because it is too dangerous. This practice is illegal, and is considered inhumane to the snake.

Cobras don't always inject venom when they bite something. They can do a "dry bite" if they want to.

Alright, who the hell is using Toven's account?

It doesn't give me the willies. I just think it's a little sick to feel the need to videotape something like that. :down

They currently have a promo for "Nature" showing people talking about the thrill of seeing how powerful the lion is, and laughing about how clueless the gnu is, and how it's like "the theater of the wild".

People like to watch it for the same reason people go to Ogrish.com.

there are two options here:

1) you are stupid and don't get it

or

2) you are an ass and don't want to get it

The other day I noticed that there was a news article about someone's pet snake who bit a toddler. People were acting like this was the world's biggest tragedy and such, obviously it's not good. But has anyone realized that children and hundreds of times more likely to be attacked and killed by the family dog?
No, because no one would ever want to depict dog's in a bad light. But the facts are that dogs are statistically one of the most dangerous animals in the world. Besides, if you think that snakes are family animals and are supposed to be interacting with children you're an idiot. The parents are the one's who are ultimately responsible, snakes aren't domesticated animals.

No, but dammit, they are a threat to all passengers of planes in America!

lolz.

snakes are trying to take the word back.

how Machiavellian.
