Is this the new fad in your town?

nope. my town's still stuck on the Fast & Furious mumbo jumbo :o

My sister had to be on one 25 years ago, so it's not new...

Kid leads have been out in the uk for years

Yeah. They were around when I was a kid. Which was 15 years ago. Nothing new.

What the hell?? Those things have been around for years.

I've seen those being used before but not recently... just a precaution I guess

i have seen this often esp.at amusement parks

I have one like that. But it's a collar leash for grown men.

yes these have been around for awhile, i think they were a good idea then and now...anything that will keep children safe is a good thing in my book.

I agree. I like it better than a stroller for toddlers or small children.

Anyone check out the other safety precautions on that site for children?

"The Original. The Baby Cage.

The original infant confinement system. Suitable for infants ages 0 to 2 years old.
Price: $499.99 "

When I see a kid on a leash, it seriously pisses me off.
Might as well tell them to sit and give them a Milkbone.
I just wanna walk up to the parent, smack them and say NO!

I really hope you're kidding. Ignoring the general concept, it's pretty much a <$100 dog crate.

It's official now...children are being treated like animals and animals are being treated like children. Heh.

I think as long as the leash is on a child the parents feel that they don't have to pay as much attention to them. I have had one of those leashes cross my path a few times as the parent goes one way and the child goes another.

I am just going to get my child one of those fancy house-arrest ankle bracelets.

Those of you that are against the leash, do you have children? Have you ever lost your child for even 2 minutes in the grocery store? Or had them within 2 seconds get away from you and run into a crowd, or worse in front of a car?

Some parents feel that using leashes is actually less restraining than keeping kids cooped up in a stroller all the time. They provide freedom to roam around, but allow parents to control boundaries and limit danger. They significantly reduce the risk of children wandering away from parents, into the path of danger. For parents of multiples, it can be a very effective way to keep kids from disappearing in different directions.

The leash is not a collar around the neck, it is a specifically placed harness for different ages with padding. Pediatricians have said that they actually have prevented some of the injuries from pulling up a child, hanging onto a child etc. Usually shoulder injuries and along with other arm injuries.

^I don't doubt it for a minute.

I wish I would put a leash on my kid. They already know before they leave the house, you don't even stray from my sight. The leash just equates to, "I can't discipline my kids so I have to use trendy leashes to keep them in check." I've had to watch umpteen younger cousins over the years for days at a time, and they knew what the deal was.

I've seen more people doing this than walking cats. When wlaking cats becomes popular look out!:o

JMAfan, you should be a politician. I am now officially pro-leash.
