with all things going in 3D like Movies, Televisions, Digital Cameras, ect. do you think this is going to be the future? or just a fad like in the 80's

i believe its staying

They seem to be pumping big bucks into it and its easy to get it into peoples homes/home towns now than it was back in the 80s.

So yeah you will be seeing alot more of it in the future

I wish it was just a fad, but I fear that it won't be. I miss 2D animation! :cmad:

depends on how many people get headaches from the current implementation.

I hate it too. I don't think it will ever "come back" most 3D movies are just half-assed movies with things flying into the screen. No production values or talent. :down

talkies and colour had the same problems at first since some producers will always exploit people's desire for new tech with little effort.

ofcourse it will be porn that really pushes 3d adoption as it has many types of tech.

also i doubt seeing pixars up! in 3d makes it a worse film. other than the afformentioned possibility of headaches.

its not a fad anymore. now we are in the digital era.
they have now 3D cameras and 3D projectors. they are starting to realese 3D TV's.
a lot of people said that the 3D in Up was not a gimmick. and its also not a gimmick in Avatar. until they will have both 2D and 3D for people then there wont be any problem.
dont be afraid you will all be able to watch 2D for a looooooooooooong time.

dont forget guys when color came out a lot of people were hating it.

they can always watch films with one eye closed.

It's back for sure. As said before, more movies are coming out in 3D and several TV's are coming out now with 3D functionality. Also, Sony will have 3D implemented for the PS3 next year and it will work with all of their games (you have to have the 3D capable TV).

the problem with 3D in the 50's and 80's was that they pushed it to soon. the technology was not ready. they didnt know enough about it. now it doesnt look cheap anymore. i am not talking about things flying in the camera. i am talking about the technology.
if it looks like a gimmick is the choice of the director.

its interesting that noone is saying that he hopes that IMAX is a fad.

Contrary to 3D I don't think IMax will be a fad. IMax theatres are popping up more and more. They don't require silly glasses and movies don't have to utilize any gimmicky techniques in order to get them to work.

ive seen the 15 min preview of Avatar in IMAX 3D
and its not a gimmick whatsoever, the last 3D film i saw was SpyKids 3D and that was just horrible and hurt my eyes

-like imax theaters also 3D theaters are popping up more and more
-silly glasses? they are glasses
-you need a gimmick technique to make 3D to work? did you make this one up ?

But Imax theatres are playing IMAX movies, 3D theatres are able to still play 2D films.

They are silly looking, don't always fit, inconvienent to the general population, and if you already have glasses they're difficult to fit over your glasses. :cmad:

Most 3D movies that have been released as of now have no plot that is worthwhile and are basically just an excuse to use 3D images.

what 3D movie are you talking about?

I haven't seen a movie in 3D yet but I imagine it'll be a pain in the ass to where those on top of my glass':o

no, it doesnt
i wear glasses, the 3D glasses it didnt bother me whatsoever

I thought were trying to move 3-d into peoples homes sometime in the near future. I don't see this as a fad , it's the wave of the future.

Also if Porn goes 3-d I expect this technology to be in it for the long haul.

My Bloody Valentine
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Lava Boy and Shark Girl
G-Force
The Final Destination

i see that you didnt see Coraline in 3D, i did and that shows that its not gimmicky

I saw Coraline 3D. It was a good movie that did not benefit at ALL from 3D. Also, the fact that there are at least 5 ****** movies in 3D and one decent one should mean a lot to you.

3D doesn't enhance the movie unless it uses gimmicks. If movie makers start making 3D movies that don't rely on 3D we might see it last.

then Avatar is the one for you :woot:
i didnt rely on 3D popping out of the screen, it uses depth and feel like if you were there
