So, how are the "Watchmen" movie legal shenanigans going to shake themselves out? Let Lying In The Gutters give you the exclusive.

Currently the situation has Fox filing suit against Warners and other connected companies over the rights to produce and distribute the upcoming "Watchmen" movie, based on contracts signed a considerable while ago. And it appears that they have a very good case indeed.

But does Fox really want to make a “Watchmen” film of their own? Do they want the money from the Warners “Watchmen” film? Do they want a cut? A payoff? Or just holding up a rival?

None of the above. Sources tell me that Fox want the 1960s Batman TV series. Currently Fox own the TV footage, but Warner Bros own the characters and trademarks, via their ownership of DC Comics. The rights to a DVD release have been held up for a long time now, and this case looks like it may be the instrument to release them.

Oh, Fox will get a wodge of cash as well - many millions of dollars it seems. But it seems they also want the rights to release the Adam West-starring Batman on DVD, something long denied fans of the series. And Warners will get the “Watchmen” film, to release as planned.

There were comic fans who threatened Fox boycotts over what they saw as their scuppering of the Watchmen movie. Looks like they may soon have cause to thank Fox for this action.

gives half a dozen reasons on what is holding up the Batman DVDs. WB isn't the problem. Plus this has been posted before.

Actually, I haven't seen this anywhere on here, and that's why I posted it and gave it it's own thread.

Also, although the title may be confusing, the topic is actually more focused on the subtleties of the WATCHMEN lawsuit than what is holding up the release of the adam west dvd's and as you can see by the replys, no one really gives a **** about 1960's batman. They are interested in Watchmen.

Yeah, shocking that people on a Watchmen board are interested in Watchmen.

The idea that DC Comics and WB are holding up the release of the Adam West series is likely more myth than fact. And, that's far from the most reliable of rumor mills.

Both these threads are on the main page and talk about the lawsuit and weak theory on the Batman DVDs.

Stop trying to kill my thread. Go outside and play catch or something. You know you can't wait to see Vincent Price as Eggman in full DVD or if we're lucky Blu-Ray picture quality.

If you read that link you would know I have no desire on buying the Batman DVDs, that show was terrible.

And its pretty common for people to post link(s) to other threads with the same topic regardless of post count. 8000? Who cares about post counts?

But I don't want to kill this thread, go back to the Fox bashing.
