It leaves a sour taste in my mouth...

I was gearing up for New Warriors Dumping the TV show and stepping up as an Avengers alternate roving team.

And then they kill Night thrasher and Microbe.

I doubt that Namorita who is Thing strong and just short of Bulletproof was killed.

I also doubt that Speedball by the nature of his powers is dead,.... just put into the next county.

No one else "could survive being at ground zero".

Sigh.

I just figured Marvel was apologizing for those of us who read that last New Warriors miniseries. (And, they helped by maybe making it worth a few extra cents.)

For me, I've always despised Speedball. Sure, a more fitting end would have been having the GLX kill him off...but, I'm happy.

Speedball was the one NW I didnt want to die and it looks more likely than not, he's the sole survivor. Which is fine with me. I'm a big fan of New Warriors, but this whole reality tv crap needed to end. The only one I'm bummed about is Night Trasher. He was the one who formed the NW in the first place. Oh well. Before the end of the original series, his character got incredibly ****ed up. But thats not to say there isn't hope. Nova and Firestar are still alive. As is Justice and Rage (although those are two characters I could stand not to see again). With Speedball's probable survival, we could always see a rebirth of the New Warriors.

a rebirth of NW i really dont see happening...Marvel already has it's junior hero team in YA...what purpose would it serve????

At this point, the NW arent a junior hero team. Honestly, I could see them going the way of The Outsiders. Everyone thinks they're dead/disbanded, but they're really just underground and the only proactive team around. Could make for a very interesting book. Besides if Alpha Flight are getting their own title.....

exactly. What if a writer had an idea for one of the character then he's killed off by some ass who doesn't understand him and see's no use for him. I just wanna know was there a Consensus that they should have died? or was it the Writers decision?
Usually writers get a list with 'killable' characters, and who are pretty much automatically greenlighted for a shock kill.

speedball's not dead. even though they announce it that he's dead i the series, on marvel's webpage when they describe nitro, it mentions that the explosion killed namorita, night thrasher, and microbe.

The last issue of ASM ended with a news report on the Stamford disaster, and they said something like, "The blame is being placed on someone or something called Speedball. Who or what is Speedball?" So not only is Speedball alive, he gets to be the scapegoat for mut--er, superhero registration. It's all superheroes this time, right, not just the minority that they already used this story on a couple of decades ago?

There were two Alpha Flights running around. This past one that was brought back in New Alpha Flight was the one that got killed.

No it was actually a Mixture of the two.
