Unfortunately it's the world we live in. Bigotry exists anywhere you go, much like Kung Fu treachery.

You are correct, but here is where the actual problem lies...

You have a discussion going on over a very personal, highly explosive issue...so you want to discuss it. Maybe even change some minds...

A person comes into the discussion taking the opposite view of you, and they state their opinion strongly and to many comes across as very bigoted.

At that point, you have a choice...

Do you bait them into making a bigger fool out of themselves and taking the discussion down a very destructive path?

Do you take it personally and bite back just as personal?

Or do you keep your cool, continue giving your opinion in a respectful way, continue the discussion and show that you are going to stand above the snark and disrespect even though the other person is still going strong and making themselves look like a fool?

The choices were made yesterday. Some were the right choices and some were the wrong choices.

I agree with this. But personally, I think people should be allowed to express their opinions even if it isn't a popular one, as long as it doesn't contain hate speech, racial slurs, or promoting violence towards a group of people. I have strong opinions about things and sometimes by opinions and views aren't the most popular. But I am always respectful to those that don't share my views even when some try to throw personal attacks my way. My philosophy is to stand firm in what you believe in other wise you fall for anything. And even though you may want to sling mud at someone, sometimes it's best to just walk away or in the case of the Internet ignore it. For example, I saw Godzilla's posts in the Jenner thread and they were strong opinions, but I didn't really find them to be all that offensive ( more funny than anything else) and definitely seem much worse posts in my years here on Hype. I just feel like you need to have a thick skin in life. Not everyone is gonna agree or share your life views, opinions, beliefs, and you will face critics. You just have to be mature enough to handle it and if needed express your views in a respectful manner and keep it moving. That's just my two cents.

I agree, not much reason for a discussion if all sides are not allowed to speak.
