Eh... I think that mainstream movie making still churns out the stuff it always has. And let's remember how the audience has reacted to so called "original" films in recent memory. They just don't show up to the numbers they do to things that might be called "derivative" or for re-makes/re-boots. For myself, I just can't get too precious about these things anymore at my age (which I am guessing is around your age Duke). It's easier on my heart to just not give too much a damn about re-makes, especially since by any standards there are more outlets and opportunities for film makers and story tellers than ever before. And like I always like to point out... Ben-Hur, The Maltese Falcon, El Dorado... All remakes.

Honestly I don't see the point of remkaking Arnie movies without Arnie. Series like Terminator is fine since they can continue them without him but a direct remake of a movie that only drew people to see it due to Arnie isn't needed.

Half of the movies had made were popular because of how insane he made them. Look at Jingle all the Way, they made a sequel and no one gave a rats ass, if Arnie starred in JATW 3 then it would be in theatres. The Total Recall movie was meh at best because Arnie wasn't in it hamming it up and chewing on the scenery with bad puns.
