It Lounges - - Part 126

School is out, but Ramadan is in. A good amount of my time is spent fasting and sleeping. Not really watching many movies during Ramadan.

Ah. Well then. There's little room for shenanigans on an empty stomach I suppose.

Words to live by. :mnm:

Honestly I rarely ever puked much when I was drinking. In that regards I handled my booze very well. Now the part where I would blackout and do crazy stupid stuff and be a raging a**hole, not so much haha

This essentially describes most of uss and our relationship with the Hype forums.

Kinda figured I wouldn't get much sleep tonight after the weird sleep schedule I did on this 3 day weekend. Hopefully I can get a few hours before I have to go to work

The Starks will be A-OK since [BLACKOUT]Jon Snow has Stark blood and is the one true heir to the Kingdoms of Westeros seeing and Danys' brother is his dad. His life will truly be a song of ice and fire if you think about it. He just has to get over that acute case of death he's got now[/BLACKOUT].

Of course that could turn out to be completely wrong.

Stop posting selfies Marv.

Seriously though... That's from JP, right?

Old Man, still have no plans to watch Jurassic World?

On VOD or disc, maybe. I LUV the original film really, and this thing at least sounds like it's not a pile of Triceratops excrement... But yeah, just not feeling the need to spend cash on it at this time.

Oh, well. I personally enjoyed it a lot and it's easily the best JP sequel in my eyes. Damn though, I knew the film would be big, but had no idea it'd be this BIG. Just astonishing.

Hope you enjoy the film when you see it.

I have to say the success really surprised me as well. I mean, by most estimates the critics and the audiences aren't raving about it. They aren't saying it's crap either but it's not in the "OMG THIS IS LIKE E.T., FROZEN, STAR WARS AND TITANIC ALL ROLLED INTO ONE!!"

I hope I do enjoy it when I see it. That said... I kind of wonder if this is a case of pent up nostalgia just putting something over the top... Which makes me thing that when THE FORCE AWAKENS comes out... JEEEEEEEEEEEZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSS... What is that opening going to be like? Winter time or not, I think it's got to be at JW levels.

I don't want to rain on your parade here, but I don't think The Force Awakens will open at Jurassic World levels. Might have better legs and higher domestic gross? Sure.

There's more than enough reason to back that up, true.

On the other hand, no one was really expecting the various demographic and cultural dovetails that brought about the JW success. TFA is already expected to be huge. Could there be a repeat of similar circumstances? Pent up nostalgia, kids out of school so families can go as a group, massive marketing... I think it's in the realm of the possible let's just say.

The big reason why Star Wars won't make nice money is because of the Point Break remake. Everyone wants to see that one.

Jurassic Worlds box office was helped by it being able to appeal to a very very wide age range, it not being terrible, it being genuinely fun for all ages, and most importantly it not being a superhero film that requires the audience to have seen 6 or 7 previous films and know about characters prior to going in.

In short, JW was a breath of fresh summer air for many people. Myself included. I've seen only a handful of films twice in theaters and even fewer in 3D, and I've already watched JW twice once in 2D and once in 3D. I enjoyed it even more the second time.

It can't surpass the original. The original was lightning in a bottle, has Tom of nostalgia propping it up, and it's propped up by cinema magic the likes of which not many if any films can touch anymore. But JW was a breathe of fresh air and very enjoyable wholesome fun.

That's my thoughts on it, anyways.:)

Plus, the marketing was excellent. Good trailers, especially the final one, just along with the fact Universal built the hype up perfectly. Just many things going for it.
