If you didn't like MOS then I don't think you are going to like BvS DJ. And if those products don't get your juices flowing I doubt anything will.

Yeah, a few people got sandy private parts over MOS, how do Snyder and WB reply? They double down on making the next film even more for the people that did like it. I love it.

I'm not a MOS hater per se, it's just Superman is essentially a god and he battled a view other gods in that film. It def was different than any other take on Supes that I was familiar with. I never read the original comic but I loved the Dark Knight animated adaptions. I'm intrigued to see how Batman is going to hold his own against a god that shoots lasers out of his eyes and make it believable. I'm also excited for the DCCU as a whole since it will introduce me to a ton of characters and stories that I've never experienced before. I'm also really excited for Ben's take on Batman. I just hope DC/WB doesn't hinge their entire universe around Batman, that would get old real quick for me

Whatever you can say about Snyder, I think he's pretty unapologetic about his film making. I REALLY doubt we will get anything even close to a mea culpa that so many fans seem to want in BvS.

And when he does do things that appear to be a response and this is just my take, he does it in a way that isn't exactly what those who criticize him want. He was called out for "too much slo-mo" and being too slavish in his comic book adaptations. So he gives us MOS, with NO slo-mo and a story and presentation that precipitates a rhetorical knife fight in the fan community.

I really like how they appear to intend on making their universe much more grounded than the MCU. I've always felt DC's characters to be more fantastical and less relatable to me and this is just the kind of spin that could make me fan

I really loved the one he did about the chick in the mental ward that was fighting mad people in her head. I can't think of the name right now but it bombed. Never did get why since I thought it was awesome

I find this odd since the nature of Superhero stories for all intents is the battling of gods, isn't it? I mean, that's LITERALLY what the Thor films are in the MCU. A big part of the appeal is the insane action available to showcase when you are dealing with characters that have impossible powers. Iron Man dragging Thor across a mountain, Flash and Zoom/Revers-Flash fighting at near light speed ect.

Sucker Punch.

Or as I like to call it the film where Snyder wanted to show off his inner Tarantino but unfortunately his inner Tarantino was actually Frank Miller. :sly:

It's 2 am, I've had about 2 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours and I'm looking down the barrel of an almost full day at work in just a few hours. I figured what better time to shoot the s*** with you fine fellows
heh wondered where you've been lol

Man i love Snyder but never let that dude go write a script.

Well from the versions I'm familiar with, Supes can only become vulnerable when he is near a rock. Once the rock is removed and he juices up from some sunshine he is invulnerable again. He has freeze breath and shoots lasers out of his eyes. He just always seemed overpowered to me. I was drawn to Marvel in the late 80's and 90's because these people had powers but most of them also had several weaknesses. I connected with the X-Men so much because they had amazing powers and fought to save the world even though that world rejected and hated them. I loved Spiderman because he was a superhero and a high school kid dealing with issues I was familiar with at the time. Hulk was awesome because Banner was a brilliant scientist that had to maintain control over his emotions or he turned into an unstoppable beast

One misstep like Sucker Punch doesn't mean much to me. I didn't like the movie, it's problematic but... Does it really indicate some kind of deficiency on his part? No offense to his fans but The Dark Knight Rises, the Bat film Nolan had the most input on in terms of writing was a bloody awful mess to me and quite a few others... Doesn't mean Nolan shouldn't continue to write.

Maybe, but in Donner and Snyder's films it's a specifically family crest. I think it's the case in Birthright and Earth One as well.

For a character that appears in two movies in the next two years, so hopefully it comes up again.
Right? I hope it does!

Well, the final product of a film is very much gelled when you get to the editing process. For all we know there was some point where this added piece of texture, the Kryptonian language, was spotlighted but it ended up being cut. And that's what it added, even not being closely showcased: Texture. You see the writing all over and it's even integrated into the Superman costume. These things add weight and detail to an adaptation, like the runes on Mjolnir in the MCU.
heh the ORIGINAL movie Mjolnir had a couple mis-spelled words lol Yeah, there were a few things I loved about MoS and the Hyroglyphs/texts were one of them.

haha you know how to get up with me homie. How was your weekend V?
lol yeah but wasn't sure if you were awake or not and working it as usual lol
Tomorrow tho is like your day. I get out of here at the hotel at 7am go home get back up at 2pm to be at work from 4pm to midnight

Well if he does decide to write a film in the near future i hope that it doesn't get negative reviews a second time since i really like his and Goyer's story ideas.

Since at least 1987 and John Byrne's re-boot Superman has been far from his Silver Age godhood of sneezing and destroying solar systems. He can be brought low by quite a few beings who are near or at his level in terms of power: Darkseid, Lobo, Mongul Black Adam, Shazam, the list goes on. He's vulnerable to magic as well. But admittedly his "supremacy" is part of the appeal. Being the original gangsta of OP is kind of his thing, so if you can't get over that it is understandable that the character may leave you cold. But in all seriousness his real power is the same as all the other super heroes, fans just don't want to admit it... PLOT ARMOR. Spidey, Batman, Cap... Forget spider bites, shields and utility belts... That's what really saves their necks. They are no less "invulnerable" than more powerful characters in the context of suspension of disbelief if we are all being honest with ourselves.

Superman's real weakness isn't a green rock... It's his heart. His empathy and compassion, his want to protect and do good for the sake of goodness. Things that pierce those aspects of him are far more lethal to his spirit than any radioactive debris from Krypton or magically empowered weapon. That's the drama for a character like him.

:more: American Myth...you GOTTA love it. :D

I can't wait to see BvS, so far, from what I've seen I KNOW I'll love it

Is there a trade yet for when he recently lost his powers yet?

Hiya CC! how ya feelin'?

Exactly, I love Snyder as a director, his storytelling is dependant on the quality of the script. But then Sucker Punch is one film that's his story. Whose to say he didn't learn something from it?

So it's 3 am and I decided I'm going to walk over to Walmart to get a bag of baby carrots

As I have gotten older I realized that I "believed" in these characters from DC and Marvel in pretty much the same way I did in God/Jesus when I was boy going to Catholic school and heading off to church two or three times a week. I think the wellspring of religions (and the pantheons of the West, Near and Middle East of the ancient worlds were religions that people lived and died for let's remember) in the human mind is the same place where super heroes and their stories come from.

The ancient gods of many of our ancestors for the modern world simply took off their robes, sandals, old armors ect. and put on skin tight clothing, capes and masks.
