Maybe the Flash series and Arrow are canon DCCU and they brought Geoff Johns to keep them in order...

Maybe...

no giant spiders allowed

Yeah we reached our polar bear and giant spiders limit with MoS. Man, when I saw the polar bear, I laughed out loud. But when the stupid World Engine became practically a giant spider.... I couldn't believe it. I enjoyed MoS very much, but that scene made me cringe.

Maybe not .
Oh and for the record ,
There is No Flash TV series only a pilot order that has not produced anything as of yet .

Maybe...

He was brought into Smallville for the exact opposite thing. He was charged with introducing the Justice League but keeping WW, Batman and GL out of it due to movie projects.

If it wasn't bad enough Jesse is Lex, Johns is a producer.

Hey Snyder, why not you get someone like Bruce Timm or Scott Snyder or Brian Azzarello involved instead of someone who doesn't know how to write Batman and Wonder Woman?

Don't expect the CW to pass on The Flash TV series.

Surprised Jon Peters name isn't there.

I think it was only included in Man of Steel because of this:
Peters could reap a super payday of between $10 million and $15 million, say knowledgeable sources. (Peters declined comment.)
How is that possible? Credit what might be called Hollywood's "early adopter" system of financial rewards, where players who give key pushes to projects at a nascent stage often reap huge windfalls down the line -- even if they have long since exited.

More explained here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/man-steel-how-jon-peters-570675. He's probably 100% outside of the loop on this one.

Why not wait and see the film for gods sakes.

Trust me, I will be there opening night for the film. Maybe even midnight premiere. I've never been to a midnight. May use that for Star Wars but I just would like some confidence in this film and I have it with story and script. I have confidence in Batfleck and Irons. I have some but not total confidence in Gadot but then Lexenberg comes out of no where.

Forbes just put out a great article on this subject and how WBs is "rebranding" the universe:

The official announcement includes this paragraph (italics added for emphasis):

The new film is currently being written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

It’s surprising that there’s been no significant reaction to these statements. First of all, notice that the names Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are absent from the list of executive producers. Second, screenwriter David Goyer’s name appears twice, the first time being at the end of a sentence referring to the project as “the new film” that is “being written by Chris Terrio.” Goyer’s name is also listed among the executive producers of the project.

Leaving off the names of Nolan and Thomas (who produced the last two Batman film and Man of Steel, and had previously been named as executive producers on the super-sequel) wasn’t just a casual omission — they could be staying on as executive producers and their names might appear on future press releases, but even if they’re going to be aboard down the line the decision was clearly made to keep their names off yesterday’s announcement. I’m sure Nolan is ready to end his direct involvement with superhero films and has plenty of other projects to pursue that interest him. And I’ve no doubt they felt their names would naturally pull some spotlight away from other folks working hands-on with the film. But the studio would’ve frankly requested they keep their names attached for appearances anyway, if the studio’s plans didn’t involve explicitly leaving their names out of things at this juncture.

I dont expect them to,
But a pilot order is not the same as greenlighting a series .

I thought it was green lit and that's why they pushed the origin from Arrow to it's own pilot.

What does Geoff Johns have to do with the script...?

Nothing really...he's a producer.

He's probably a creative consultant as well. Few people in comics know DC lore as in-depth as Geoff Johns. I bet he's the guy the writers turn to about easter eggs and shared universe references.

Do executive producers even do anything? I know in music it usually means absolutely nothing except that it is used to show respect.
