Comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Part 2

TV Pilot Season: Which Stars Are Getting All the Offers?
Other in-demand leading men who are fielding offers for dramas include Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey, Dennis Quaid, Limitless alum Jake McDorman, John Cho (Harold and Kumar), Josh Duhamel (Battle Creek), Demian Bichir (the Bridge), Anders Holm (Workaholics), Chris Messina (The Mindy Project), Glenn Howerton (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Ramon Rodriguez (Gang Related)
Huh... I wonder if Kaitlin doing The Mick was like a trial run for the guys doing other shows during Sunny's hiatus/once it eventually ends. The drama bit is curious too.

Holy s***, Dee.

another good episode... with Dee becoming Cartman with Scott Tenorman.

This felt like a "classic" Sunny episode. Loved the stuff with Mac.

Dee can be just as bad as any of the boys. That poor stripper.

I've been with the show since day one and this season has been killing it. Last season was hit or miss for me, still enjoyed it, but this year they have been firing on all cylinders.

Cricket - "So you're gay huh? For free or for pay?"

Mac - "For free..."

Cricket - "Chump."

:woot:

at least he is staying out of the closet for now lol

I like how an openly gay Mac was somehow out-gayed by whatever the hell Frank and Charlie were up to.

I surprisingly enjoyed this episode a lot given how little the gang was in it, and when they were a lot of it was recycled footage from the previous two episodes. The Disney references were on point, and I knew that ending was coming as soon as she asked Cricket to take her necklace off.

I can't believe next week is the finale already, this season went by fast!

The opening scene was hilarious and Cricket carried the episode very well.

I love when they address the show's past (in this case, Cricket having a real name and having used to be a normal person).

I thought it was another really good episode. This season has been so much better than I was expecting.

I can't believe it's still this consistently enjoyable in it's 12th season.

So that finale...

also (spoilers are from the finale)
Here’s [BLACKOUT]Howerton[/BLACKOUT], surprising interviewer Alan Sepinwall with a surprisingly long and nebulous answer after being asked whether [BLACKOUT]Dennis[/BLACKOUT] was really gone:
“So… it’s a little complicated. I may seem a little bit evasive here, and I don’t mean to. It’s not entirely certain whether I am or am not. I might be. I might be, but I might not be. That really is the truth. Just to be clear, to dispel any potential weirdness, it has nothing to do with my relationship to anyone on the show or Rob or Charlie or anyone like that. It’s partially a creative and personal decision. We may be taking an extended hiatus between season 12 and season 13. So I’m certainly staying open to the possibility of doing more, but there is a possibility that I will not.

Could just be tired, could be ready to move on to something else, could just be for hype.
We'll see. It seems like they're building toward a finale, even though they have 2 seasons left. Mac coming out as gay, Charlie [BLACKOUT]banging the waitress[/BLACKOUT], Maureen dying. It seems like they're running jokes are being picked off

I have to imagine he'll be back. FX ordered the next two seasons about this time last year, yeah? I can't imagine they would've done so if they had an inkling of one of the core five wanting to move on at the end of the next season. The show is too dependent on the cast's chemistry for that... I mean, s***, the first season, in hindsight, doesn't even really feel like the show without DeVito.

I'd say the news of Howerton's pilot is definitely suspicious timing, though, as Kaitlin has shown us, having a side gig while remaining on Sunny is manageable. I guess we'll see...

I am hoping he is just building up hype, like the time Parker and Stone were "leaving" South Park. Sunny wouldn't be Sunny without any of the cast members. And being that this show is McElhenney, Howerton, and Day's baby, you have to think he'd want it to end on a more final note, with buildup and closure.

That said, I'm not sure a sidegig is as possible for him. Unlike Olsen, who is just an actor, Howerton is one of the producers, head writers, and showrunners. That is a lot to juggle alongside a commitment to another show.

Huge blow if Howerton leaves. The show needs to end with the entire cast intact.

I think Howerton will be back, but I think the show might lose steam soon regardless. I'm getting a "the end is near" feeling, much like I did when Steve Carell left The Office. Though, to be fair, Sunny is still far stronger than that show was in its last seasons.

Anyway, now that the season's over, what were your favorite episodes of season 12? I'd go with "The Gang Hits the Water Park". I really think they should have saved that for later in the season, it was so good.
