Comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Part 2

Just talking about this...I've been watching moments from Season 1 for the past few months and it's fascinating how tonally different, but not really, the show was. Mac felt like the one calling the shots most of the time instead of Dennis, while Dee and Charlie weren't nearly as defined as they are now. None of them were. Not to say that they've been Flanderized, but like a lot of first seasons, Always Sunny really did feel a bit more grounded prior to Frank's arrival. Now yes, Danny DeVito joining the show was a shot in the arm that the show needed, but it makes me wonder how the show would have continued had he not become a regular.

Plus, I kind of like how floppy and unkempt Mac's hair looks in the first season.

I was also surprised by how different Dee seemed to be in S1, compared to S2 and beyond. It was for the better, but I thought it was interesting how S1 compared.

Honestly, even after Frank arrives, the show still doesn’t feel quite like itself until he really starts going off the rails. That first season with him, he’s still fairly put together. Plus seeing Dennis and Dee refer to him as “Dad” is just wild to look back on.

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a cable/broadcast crossover before.

It’ll be wild seeing the Sunny cast spout out the most rancid **** possible, only to be censored and we have to guess what they’ve said by how horrified the Abbott cast looks.

And I need to binge It's Always Sunny.

Heard it was funny as hell, I just never watched for whatever reason.

It’s one of my favourite shows, and I watched it in its entirety for the first time last year! Show’s pretty good in S1, but it gets much better when Danny DeVito joins the cast in S2.

Love Abbott too! Mr. Johnson and Ava Coleman are my favourite characters! I’m down with this!

If this is just a one-way thing where it's just the characters from Always Sunny appearing on Abbott Elementary, then I'll pass. Not just because I've never watched Abbott- nothing against it, as I do watch The English Teacher on FX- but I can just wait for those scenes to appear on YouTube. If this was along the lines of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine/New Girl crossover where each show was part of the crossover, then I'd be on board. As is, since I don't watch Abbott Elementary, can't say it's something I'd tune in to watch.

I will say, even though one could watch a random episode here and there and still enjoy it, you'd appreciate it way more if you watch the whole thing from the start because these characters go on a journey into depravity.

Just clear your schedule, take some edibles, and start a binge. You won’t regret it. There are some things that have aged… very poorly but I think that the gang has learned from some of the problematic stuff they did in the past and wouldn’t make some of the same mistakes if they had the opportunity to do a few things over. Unfortunately, when a show is on for 20 years (and the people who made it were originally young white guys in their 20s), they weren’t always the most socially conscious people. That said, as they’ve gotten older and wiser, they’ve become much more progressive with their humor.

These monsters are about to eat that poor faculty up.

Second episode in a row this season that Abbott has mentioned a golf course development causing issues in the area. I bet that’s how the gang gets involved. Paddy’s must be getting screwed.
