Yaaassss, now we're talking! I've seen Ice Pirates, Explorers and Wing Commander, but since I see The Last Starfighter was named twice, guess I'll start with that one. Thanks all!

Let me know what you think Starfighter is a cult thing I would say but I find it's not just nostalgia goggles, it's a legit fun film. I also highly recommend Enemy Mine.

The best Star Wars movie, for me, is John Carter. You can see where JC ripped the Geonosian aesthetic, wholesale, for Mars itself. On the other hand, you have Eragon, which Lucas pillaged to create the farmboy destined for greatness, guided by a mentor that used to be a great warrior trope.

Eragon and John Carter are my favorite Star Wars movies.

No doubt something like John Carter, the original Edgar Rice stuff made it into the various stuff that influenced Lucas, along with Flash Gordan/Buck Rogers serials, Dune ect., but Eragon? Are you referring to the dragon thing? Wasn't that published in like 2002-2003?

From what I understand, the writer of Eragon was a teenager who lifted the plot directly from ANH for his debut novel. Down to colorful blades.

His parents owned a publishing company, so he had a head start on other young writers. But it didn't last.

I bought TDKR on Blu-Ray for my father... two years ago? He watched it like once. I should sell it on ebay for a dollar. Or use the disc as a drink coaster. Always need something to catch coffee stains.
